If i came across a buck of this caliber I would want it to be a spit second sort of thing......I am not sure I could keep my heart in my chest if I had to watch this monster walking to me over any distance.....What a buck

im surpised that buck net booned 182" thought maybe it would have been higher looking at it. i dont know awhole lot about the scoring process but is it typical for a deer like this to gross that high and yet have 24" in deductions??

non typical points are tough on a typical score. and when you have that many points any difference between sides really adds up. I am not really into scoring but if it is a typical 13......would it lose an entire matching dimension from what would have been a typical 14 frame?

It isn't just the  nontipical points that are deducted for a tyipcal rack.. also the difference in corresponding measurements from the left and right sides are deductions in the B&C system .. yes it would lose that entire matching dimension

I haven't seen the buck personally yet, but what i can tell from the pics is the g-1's alone were nearly six inches different in length... when you start adding up all the differences with such a big buck with so many points the deductions add up quickly especially in the non symmetry differences.

Thats what makes the world record hansen buck so special is that it has such a huge typical 6x6 frame with very few deductions for symmetry..

on the serious side i was always curious how they added deductions. its a incredible buck to say the least..

Like I have said in the past...my rating system is ...pass....big....really big....and heart attack big....that one is in the latter. This might sound odd, but I think if you shot a buck like that you have to ask yourself..."How can I ever top this?" It is a once in a lifetime.

nontypical point have to make up a ceartin percent of the score for it to be nontypical it not very much

The truth is he probably never will top that one...the buck is now the #4 all-time typical with a gun in NY.. but I'll bet he'll be out there next year trying!!
