If Hillary won, you'd soon be getting a letter telling you to turn them all in. That's why they want all AR type rifles registered too. You can deny it if it helps you sleep at night, but the state knows who has pistols and can decide to ban them at any time. I wouldn't comply with this system if I owned any firearms they want registered, but I don't own anything they need to know about. I have no problem with getting a permit to carry, but don't think they need to know how many pistols I own just to give me a permit. They certainly don't need to know about any long gun anyone owns.
