Now That said, notice that pretty honey comb over the flash area...do not know what the purpose is. I do know what it does though...It collects snow ,Ice ,and freezing rain. I Do know that because it is on the out side,not in, it's impossible to clean and takes a good sun hitting it or warm spell to clean... THIS IS A DESIGN FLAW...

Now I loved the Bushnell I won from here and dang if it's not still working...so I got this one...an It takes great warm weather pics...but most of the hunting season and all winter we have blowing snow. The snow comes in from ALL directions...I even put it under a shorter tower blind...I can't leave it for days, because if it  fills day one...well you can guess the rest.

I called them and this is what I was told...in so many words,TOUGH and he hung up...

Many cams are moving to this to break up the IR array cover. It reduces its ability to stick out like a sore thumb.

I don't think it has any real impact as you say.

Do you own or use one Phade? For I know that when the ice and snow builds up behind that grate...you can not simply wipe it away...so of course it make a difference. It also makes a difference as to the amount of time it takes for the snow and ice to melt away...for that grate holds it from simply slipping off as temps rise...Even if one doesn't own one...common sense would have to play into that realization. So night or dusk pics are certainly effected..no flash. BTW..the pic you just showed was snow and or a frost across the lens...not a snow ice build up on the flash array...if it was a day pic you'd still have a picture...a night pic ,there would be NO FLASH...

And the pic I posted was a way of saying - let's get real here - these cams are in tough environments and we must maintain reasonable expectations. Build up of snow and ice has more to do with the Indian than the bow. Setup matters.

I've sold around $25k in cameras this year doing it as a hobby. I can assure you that you're the only one who has ever said this is a design flaw. Get used to it - more cam companies will be using this general design.

Browning uses it. Reconyx uses it. Bushnell uses it. Generally speaking - the best cams on the market use it.

Well that sentence speaks for it's self.  This Indian has placed that camera in every position possible and under cover...When you live in a high wind ,snowy area ,short of encasing it in glass(which we both know also wouldn't work) there is no avoiding a snow build up. Thus disabling the flash array. How much you have personally sold in cameras..really doesn't change that fact,irrelevant.

Again - you can't see the forest for the tree. Probably why you got the response you did from customer service.

Me selling the cams is relevant - I speak to large amounts of consumers who provide feedback and I offer customer service and troubleshooting. Know how many times a customer has complained about about the cam design? Zero. Know how many who say the cams hide well with the arrays broken up? Tons.

I'm not saying your feedback is worthless but I struggle when people have no grasp that their experience might be the outlier. You got a similar answer from Bushnell. Yet you believe otherwise that they should redesign the cams to fit your needs. If it doesn't meet your needs go buy another cam line. No company is perfect but Vista made $2B last year. That's a B. They'd change that design in a hurry if sales faltered. They've used that design as have the best cam companies on the market for several years including the standard bearer in Reconyx - $600 cams.

I'm sorry but you're yelling into a canyon and talking back to the only voice you hear.

I'm with Phade on this one, surprised you think it's an issue. With the amount of cams the big names sell their R and D is on there A game.

I didn't bother reading your last response...

I will how ever put this out there..I have no affiliations, I do not sell cams though I do use them. That said This array cover is nothing new companies have been using them for a while and I have other such cams ,with two different designs.

PLEASE NOTE...I have never complained nor felt a need to warn others of a problem..EX:

 Now you compare them for your self visually...Let me explain the difference..SPACE SIZE...the tighter the space the more build up and longer it lasts. That's one, here's the biggest difference..I can take my hot little hand out of my glove and lay it across the Spypoint and it all melts,why...because I can actually touch the array cover behind the "diffuser panel" On the Bushnell the metal tight honey comb doesn't allow for my warm skin to touch the panel...the gap is too wide and the honey comb to tight. ...The 3rd...it doesn't happen as often with the others. Now living in the North we all know sometimes you get frost and or snow...It's what we get use to living with. I have been running cams since they first came out weighed a bunch and were huge with 9volt batteries..I am not new to cams...I dare say a good many people here were in high or middle school when I was playing around with those 9volt and multiply D batteries and 1/2ft x foot cams.

I'm just letting you know a few things from my experience,apparently according to Phade others as well. giving you the opportunity to decide. I do wonder about a company that has customers saying they have a design flaw for Northern customers and continue to roll out said design.....

I would hope that when a company has customers,as Phade said I'm not the only one to see this,  see's design flaw, they'd look into it, over continuing producing it..well that says something.

BTW, for some reason Phade wants to make this a personal thing...but I never require or requested them to change a design for me...I was letting them know there is a flaw.

.As to Reconyx...please note their design... Bushnell seems to be the only one with this particular "faulty" design. Oh another difference...all others plastic...the Bushnell metal...you figure out which may get colder and hold that cold longer. You have the info choose for your self...

Best of luck grow. I just looked outside - the sky is still holding high. Hasn't fallen yet.

Might as well take the opportunity today while it hasn't fallen to check my several thousand dollars of design flawed cams! It's a joke, relax.

If using common sense is childish then so be it. If your design flaw was a legitimate issue you wouldn't be the only one complaining about it. But what do I know.

Not real sure what provoked that kind of response to a fellow hunter's observation and complaint.  It would seem to be something to do with $25K worth of sales.  Can't we all just just get along?  Merry Frickin' Christmas!

If it's any consolation yet another company is using the array covers/breakup in the upcoming model year.
