E J
My wife was out cruising with our kids on our ranger today. While driving she went next to a 6 foot fence I have going around 20 apple trees in the middle of a food plot. Right next to the fence was this nest with what she swears was two hens sitting on it. There are clearly two different shades of eggs in the nest. Could there be two hens sharing a nest? I know that a turkey could have variation in their egg color, but with my chickens some hens always lay a lighter shade every day and some lay a darker shade every day.
turkeyfeathers
Hmmm. Interesting. And they jointly ousted the ugly poult egg too. I'll be following this thread as it's very interesting. mowin
Well, that is odd. But I've seen several nests with 15-16 eggs over the yrs, but 10 is more common. Weird one is out of the nest. I did once spook a hen off a nest with 6 eggs and a week or so later went to check, and a partridge flew off the nest. There was the original 6 turkey eggs and 8 Partridge eggs. Would love to have see that partridge walking around with several turkey poults following her. Lol
