G-Man
Just wondering if there are any black power turkey hunter out there?? i Use a knight 12 gauge and a tradition's double barrel 12 gauge. I switched from felt wads to shotcups with good results on the patterning board. just need to see how they end up working on a bird!! bubba
I use my T/C New Englander sidelock 12 gauge single barrel. My buddy reamed it and theaded it for Remington chokes. I shoot 80 grains of black powder with an ounce and a quarter of #4 and #6 mixture. That is avolumetric load. I use the felt wads and an over shot card and have great patterns with the extra full turkey choke. I have taken two turkeys with it. The bad part is you have to remove the choke to reload it. 132 eight pointer
I have looked online and went to a Rochester gun show yesterday, i am surprised at the scarcity of both new and used modern muzzleloader shotguns.I saw plenty of antiques at the gun show and have found the $900 guns online but the cva and other kit guns that used to be affordable are not being made anymore.Supply and demand I guess. G-Man
My knight is a tk 2000 just make sure you can get the disks to hold the primer! Other than that its a great gun! You must remove the choke to load it as well.

That must really take some time to reload then... not that you expect a quick second shot when hunting with muzzloader.. but I'm sure you have to carry a tool to get the choke out.. right? G-Man
I can't speak for bubba's gun but my knight and tradition single shot have external knurled chokes that you can unscrew by hand.. still takes a bit but at least you don't need to find a choke wrench. bubba
my extra full is the same way. It extends past the barrel and I can unscrew it by hand. Yeah it takes a little more time, but I always work to make my one good shot just that a good shot. If it means I pass on a couple iffy shots, then I pass. I am sure there will be some if they read this would call me a liar and say I wound tons of animals and will not admit to it. But hey they can do just that as most judge others by their own actions. nyantler
Wish I could say that all my "one good shot" attempts turned out as planned... but that wouldn't be the truth..but like you ... I'm a one shot kinda guy.. makes me concentrate harder and only take shots that make sense... I have hunted the adirondack with a single shot 30-06 for the last 16 years... one good shot is all I have
132 eight pointer
i am going to wait and see if i can find a used one that someone got tired of.I will just use my regular shotgun for turkey this year. However now that I am learning a little about the m.l. shotguns I will see if any great deals bump in to me,no hurry,no worry.I have always been interested in one so I will see what happens.
