G-Man
Well finially stoppped raining and dried out enough to get my top field plowed. 3 acres down and 12 to go. Might be able to get 5 acres tommorow if it doesn't rain again. My low field is at least a week of dry weather away from even thinking of trying to plow. The weather has really set me back about 2 weeks. Here's hoping the sun stays out!!
catskillkid
Wow, 7 acres is a lot to look after. I got about 2.5 acres disced also. The soil was not as dry as I would have liked but I can only work on it on weekends. Hope next weekend is dry, I would like to finsh and get the seed in the ground the following weekend. G-Man
Burmjohn, Its a lot cheaper than a 4 wheeler.. oliver tractor 2,000$ 8' disk 800.$ plow free field find, fix it up 50$. does a lot more in a lot less time!! of course i have a few more tractors and other implements...just can't understand the push for 4 wheeler equipment... growalot
Dang your lucky....I can't even walk in them with out loosing a shoe!! .....Second spray down didn't work ..due to ran amounts I'm guessing and I have streams running through 3 plots...afraid to lime because it would wash away before I get in to disk.....and the temps are staying in the low to mid 40's ..with fog all day....OK enough venting...good luck out there
erussell
Going to save some money this yr and not plant in the spring. With all the rain everything is nice and green and the apple trees are loaded with bloosoms with no chance of frost this late in the spring. Apple trees should be loaded this fall. Still going to plant brassicas in the fall though. Hopefully it will stop raining by then.
G-Man
got everthing plowed..now it needs to dry up a little to drag and plant....
catskillkid
It looks like I should be able to get into the fields to disc this weekend, finaly no rain in the forecast. Hopefully the Memorial Day weekend is dry also so we can get the soy seeds in the ground

growalot
Wow ...You plant turnips early....I got out and disced up the upper soybean plot and opened up a new are...then the disc broke ....but we got our welder out and he made things right as rain....caught my self working the other day... burmjohn
Oh man I want you tractor and disc setup
G-Man
I have better luck with turnips early than if i plant them late..never seem to get enough rain in fall and they are lucky to get the size of a quarter... The deer eat the tops year round and the bear seem to like the softball size to eat from planting them early.
G-Man
Well got th elast seven acres of plots planted today... nothing to do now but watch them grow...

catskillkid
Yea, lots of pics guys, lots of pics I think I almost get more of a kick out of food plots than hunting over them. I said almost
growalot
Finally got the soybeans in and added some grain sorghum to them....that is the upper plot.....limed the new area to that plot and saved a small section of it just for a heavy planting of grain sorghum....that is a new plant for me this year and ....doing a bit of "testing " with it.....heading down to lime ...pic rocks and disc the lower field right now...before the rain hits...
