My coyote gun is a lightweight. Polymer lower, carbon handguard, carbon fixed stock, carbon pistol grip pencil 16” barrel no muzzle device. With a leupold 2-7x28 it’s 6lb 13oz with 5 rounds in the clip

Yep 7lbs or slightly less is realistic.  Run a light redot, standard weight 16” barrel and under 7lbs is easy.  Even with a heavy fluted barrel and optics my ar10 is less than 8lbs I think.
