Rained out??

Any action this morning?  Raining pretty good here in WNY.

Only action on my end is a one winged robin my Lab let live around 6am on a pizz break.

We were fine for the morning, no rain, but then again, no birds.

Got out earliest yet to avoid any more fly aways and no deer where jumped...but dang ...quiet and a branch snapped on the ground not very far away......OK...I got the jitters...for no snort ...stomp...running away....and bears started dancing through my mind ??? ...but made it OK ...heard a muffled broken gobble and then no other turkey sounds....funny ...more gun shots than I have heard since opening...rained all morning long..didn't even see a squirrel...and very foggy

Was out there in the morning till my underwear got wet. Cant stand this weather.

Here to from western N.Y. Been alot of gobbling  the first two weekends till  about 6:30 a.m.  No sightings.  The neighbor has peacocks  and every time they would yell, the turkeys would gobble.  Past Saturday and Sunday, very quiet.  I figure that is  because of the rain, they are down very early off the roost.  Saw a big gobbler at 100 yards but, wouldn't commit to the hen decoys or the calls. I figure he's been shot at and is wise. Maybe should of had a Gobbler decoy?  Saw a hen at 7:08 come in at 30 yds. She too was moving on.  Sunday started  with clucking in front of me at 6:38.  Nice hen at 10 yds.  Stayed there looking at the decoys for a few minutes. Had a jake with hens for decoys to the left rear of me and a tom with a feeding hen to the right.  Between me and her was a 8 foot wide ditch with waist deep water.  Seeing hens so early in the morning makes me wonder if the nests are getting flooded out.  Hope not.  I think the hunters have educated the turkeys so, it will be tough from here on out. Saturday I saw 1 hen and 2 deer. Sunday I made the mistake of not bringing my boonie hat & bug net, thinking a ball cap & face net would work - big mistake.
