NYBowhunter
Here are pictures from part of my Brassica plot where I planted the sugar Beets two weeks ago and as you can see the deer are not even giving them a chance..... > But in all...the beets, Turnips and Broccoli Rabe are growing nicely..... wdswtr
Didnt know deer ate rocks lol. I cant stress enough that plots need to be fenced off from deer until they mature. Doesnt need to be elaborate and can be done on the cheap. Even some bailing twine tied to trees to make a perimeter fence and thensprayed with Deer Off will help that foodplot mature before its destroyed. phade
Rock picker or a couple of teenagers with good back muscles might help that rock situation.

Actually this will be the third year picking rocks out of there....my back is still good for now.........before planting I took 5 loads of rocks out with my 60" front end loader. What you see is a tiny glimpse of that food plot, fencing off with even the simplest of methods would be quite the job......three sides of that plot has no trees, so that would require placing lots of stakes.....I'm confident that the plot will hold up fine.....we have a tremendous apple crop this year and plenty of clover.....lots to keep them fed. Will keep you all posted as how they hold up.
growalot
first off...I feel your pain with rocks...and you can pick ...rake what ever for years...then disc a little deeper than normal and your back to square one...aauuggh As far as the plot and deer I stand behind milorganite...and I've had guys here in NY take that advise and pm me to say they tried sunflowers for years and the deer would destroy them and now they have plots 6ft tall....test it...try a hard hit crop ...half with milorganite half with out...you may be pleased
