Wertheim hunt

Anyone heard back yet if you were selected for the Wertheim hunt? I was expecting to have heard by now.

Nothing yet. They got a lot of damage out there? Who knows what the deal is?

I havent heard anything either. They said the drawing would be held 8/25 and the results emailed to the hunters who were picked.

I never filled out the paper work Im not into the earn a buck thing if they want to keep deer numbers down on LI they should stop making hunters jump thru hoops and just let us hunt.

i called yesterday. the woman said that they are going to mail out the results the week of october 1. she checked the list for me- i didn't get picked.

I got picked for unit 3 on 12/2-12/3. My buddy also got picked for the same date but unit 4. Anyone else?

I got picked for unit 4, first week of December. Please be carefull. There is a New Federal Game officer that has been writing alot of hunters for BS. She wants to make a name for herself, I guess. She also walks through the woods while hunters are in their stands, so any chances that you would have had are reduced. I have hunted there in the past , and have never had a problem. Old rangers, checked you when you entered and when you got a deer. She seems to be harassing people.

D&D who told you this info? Because if its reliable I may say to hell with this hunt and go somewhere I know someone wont be walking around...

One of my friends was ticketed by her. I also know of another hunter that was hunting the same weekend, and saw her walking through the woods. 2 of my friends and I have next week and we are all second guessing hunting. I don't mind being checked when I enter or leave the place, but not while I'm in a tree.

well how did you guys do? I had a small doe and a nice 8 point come in friday morning but i had no shot on the doe. Saturday morning saw one deer way out but couldnt get an ID on it. And that lady was no problem at all.

I know that the officers boss had called the guy I know to speak about the incident. Not sure what happened with the phone call. Maybe she was just being a little overzealous.? Anyway, I'm glad you saw something. A few years ago I had a real nice 8 come out opening morning there, right under my stand. I didn't take the 2 does yet, so I just had to sit there watching it walk away. It was a nice hunt though, and better than a day at work!
