Lawdwaz
A post on here this morning gave me an idea. When I hang a camera, I usually try and conceal the method of attachment (cord, strap and/or cable lock) from bad guys. I could care less of course what the deer see. Typically I'll just grab some live or dead foliage, bark etc. and stuff it in and around the attachment and even close to the camera. Sometimes it doesn't work real good, just O.K. though. Yesterday I put a camera out and used some huge pieces of bark........ Well, on this mornings new post about a camera holder a member here made I noticed what I assume is fake (plastic) foliage wrapped around the stake/pole for concealment and camouflage. I'll grab some off that phony stuff and use it instead of the real stuff as it can be attached better and should do a good job. (it would also give me a good place to spread my Limburger)
Doc
Good post! The one thing I notice first when walking up to my camera is the strap around the tree. That seems to stick out like a sore thumb. One thing I wish the manufacturers would do is apply the old original tre-bark camo to the case of the camera (remember that old gray and black bark pattern?). Since 95% of the time the camera is attached to a tree, it would seem that bark-style camo would be the best.
WNYBuckHunter
I always have a steel cable (coated with plastic), wrapped around the tree and through the mount or other holes on the trail cam, with a padlock on it keeping the camera secured to the tree. I leave i plainly visible so most people that might come across it, will leave it alone. I havent had an issue yet.
