Shotgun Slugs & Humidity

I've got about 5 boxes of Lightfield Hybred 12g sabot slugs that have been sitting in a closet for two years. It has been a very humid summer and I got some mold in the closet (not on the boxes). Do I have to worry about using these?

Not a problem...Perhaps with paper casings.. Can you remember paper casings ?

Actually, they were pretty weatherproof also, with thier wax coating, but not as impervious to moisture as plastic shells.

If moisture got to them, they simply won't fire. If that happens then wait 1 minute before taking the round out of the chamber in case of hang fire.

Having said that, I would be super surprised if any of the ammo didn't fire.

Shoot it. I have ammo that has been sitting around for years and still works. It's never been in any dehumidified space.

Some of them are 16ga paper shells and I still use them from time to time. They were my grandfather's who passed away over 10 years ago. No idea how long he had them in his drawer but being paper I would guess quite a while.

The Sears shotshells were loaded by Federal. Federal also loaded shells for other chain stores, such as Western Auto ( Revelation) and Montgomery Ward.

I actually meant the OP. Love the old shells though. Ive got a few boxes of oldies too.

I love the old ammo also, both shotshells and metallic.

Whenever I find some old shells or cartridges, I set them aside. I am not a collector, I am an ACCUMULATOR.

I have some stuff I never even knew they made, like Remington Express 28 gauge slugs ( green paper casings, of course).

Ever hear of a 25-36 Marlin ? I have one, loaded by Remington.
