.223/.556 ammo

I’m wondering what people are shooting for target that’s pretty cheap but still accurate? And what grain? I’ll be shooting out of a .223 wylde barrel with a 1:7 twist. I figured that I’d put an order in while I’m waiting on my upper to arrive.

I was thinking Federal American Eagle FMJ 55gr but it looks like they’re hard to find in larger quantities. Is there anything else to look for?

Mine wont shoot steel casings ,you can see where the ramps dig into the steel.

Edit: it will shoot steel casings ,It wont cycle them.

So what’s your preferred round?

I bought a bunch of these awhile back from a guy ,it was his recommended round. The rifle is a Bushmaster A2 DCM-XR ,all the rounds have been through iron sights so I cant honestly say how it repeats unless I used a scope to make sure it wasn't me screwin up.

Bulk ammo may be hard to come by at the moment. After toilet paper sold out ammo started to sell out.

I found some in smaller quantities. I’m going to try the Federal American Eagle FMJ 55gr. I also ordered some Hornady Black FMJ in 62gr for now. Still open to suggestions for anything else though.

Mine runs through that stuff just fine. Actually surprised how well it groups with the cheap stuff. Any time I plink I'll run it. No fire or ejection issues and I sometimes run through a mag quick. As far as the Hornady, I only use the vmax 53gr for yotes, def not for target shooting.
