Deleted Account
Probably an easy one for someone, but I don't know what this is. Growing in wet soil all over my local preserve.
Deleted Account
Just now, blackbeltbill said: Looks like " Skunk Cabbage" popping on up to me. The Gobblers best Friend in the Wetlands. They can slither up close and around them. I think you're right. I had "cabbage" in the back of my mind, but for some reason I kept thinking water cabbage, which I knew wasn't right. Thanks!

46rkl
Just break off a leaf and smell it.... carefully. Definitely skunk cabbage. That purple thing is the flower and as it ripens it gives off an odor of decaying corpse. ITT attracts flies as pollinators since it’s too early for most insect pollinators.
