make sure you keep an eye on craigslist.  Both my brother and I got ours off craigslist.  He got a 2004 Polaris 500 with ~190 miles in perfect garaged condition.  I got a 2005 kawasaki brute force 750 that wasnt garaged unfortunately but only had 150 miles on it.  After a few hours of elbow grease and fluid and plug changes, its like it rolled off the showroom.  Both were had for right around the $3000 range. Not bad for these since they go for ridiculous rates from the dealers.

i will advise tho: DO NOT bother with adds from a female who replies she lost her husband and moved away, the quad is with her and shes selling a 8K quad for dirt cheap!

google ATV fraud on craigslist, there is a huge market right now for scamming people on ATV's.

BEWARE!

but there are good deals on there, just dont feed into the ones wheree females who lost there husband in iraq or anything like that. they try to lay a sob story and say they will engage in ebay for a bvuyer protection plan. Its BS, ebay only does it for active listings! you can not just list a quad under a BPP on eaby.

Hey thats funny burhmjohn I was looking for a camper this past spring and found one I wanted to look at on CL and the response I was sent was almost exactly the same as the one you got on the wheeler. The scammers must have a book to refer to..ha! I ended up buying new to avoid hassels and scams.

I was looking at quads a week ago on craigs list. saw same quad listed for sale i 5 different locations.  different counties and states.  same quad with dif scenery each time.  Bottom line.  if it looks to good for price its a scam.  I just bought a ranger 400 from dealer, no hassle.
