Hunterny28
Not sure if this has been posted or not. I am at work and don't have time to check each section. http://blog.syracuse.com/outdoors/2011/12/who_you_going_to_call_if_youve.html I think this is a great thing. Especially for the older people who have trouble getting around.
nyslowhand
Deer Search has been around for a while. Problem is; there aren't enough of them around & trackers can be picky about where, when they're called out and the search circumstances. Can only imagine their schedule during deer hunting season. Probably a call every evening a couple of hours after dark.
Hunterny28
I have never heard of deer search before. But I am newer to hunting and have always hunted with other people. I would imagine it would be very hectic around deer season. I wouldn't mind doing something like this when I am retired and have more time. I am lucky to get my own hunting in now. But when I am retired and can get out more, I think something like this would be good. I know my grandfather would of used something like this when I was gone to college. I guess that's what neighbor kids are for. Just sharing it in case anyone wanted to know more about it.
nyslowhand
Yeah, I thought about it also now that I'm retired. Conflict of interest arises, hunting & deersearch activities ocurr at the same time. Maybe I'm selfish, but my own hunting won out... NFA-ADK
I have a friend who stopped doing this because of all the idiots who expect him to find a slighly wounded deer... After going on many unsuccessful tracks due to variables unseen he gave it up. I contemplated doing this but after hearing his horror stories of idiots wounding deer I gave up that notion. Most guys ask allot of questions before they will come and look for a deer making a decision on weather or not to persue. Learn to track and practice shooting more and this service is not needed but it is nice to have...
