Muzzleloader question

Do you need a separate muzz tag to use a muzz during late season or can I use my bow/muzz tag, in southern tier? Or is it the same thing?

I believe its the same, but you may want to check the dec website. I dont have a bow license, so i really cant answer that question.

Same thing. Youre good. You can also use DMPs and your regular season tag is now an either sex tag.

When I renewed my license in August I bought the sportsman, DMP and bow. I never requested a muzz and bow. I don't know if the bow allows me to use a muzz. I have to check my license when I get to the house. I hope I can.

It was just the regular sportsman plus bow? Then you are going to have to get the ML license.

BTW, to save money down the road, just get the Super Sportsman from here on out of you will ML hunt each year.

Just read Dec site. I am reading it as if you have a bow/muzz you can take either sex with either bow or muzz. If I want to take two I would need 2 separate tags one for use with bow and other to use with muzz. Unless I'm reading it wrong

If you didnt purchase the ML license, you dont have it. It doesnt go with the bow license. It should say on your license exactly what you have. Sportsman + bow does not have ML. Super Sportsman has ML. Ive never bought just the bow license, so Im not sure how those tags are marked.

Seems bow and muzzle loader privileges are separate and must be bought. Share tags though. Regular season tag is valid during muzzle loader, but I read nothing that said it became an either sex. Regular season tag is still only for antlered deer.

Edit: Upon further review of their website, it seems the regular season tag is either sex during late season.

My experience has been that the bow tag says bow/mz. I've never seen it different since they redid the licensing system. Usually what happens, is on the bow (if you buy the bow first), it will be either sex. If you also get the muzzleloader, it will be antlered only. I haven't had one since the re-vamping of the system, that strictly said bow.

I have both bow and ML and what they give you is an either sex and an antlerless. Im thinking that if you buy one at a time (bow 1st then ML), you get the either sex with your bow license and the additional antlerless with the ML license. Again, thats what I think they will do. deerthug, let us know what you get when you add the ML license.

My friend did the exact same thing least year. if you buy them at different times the first special season you purchase will come with an either sex. the second one you purchase will come with an antlerless only tag. both of his tags said bow/muzzleloader on them . even the first one he bought which was his bow tag.

Don't ya think it would be a whole lot easier if the bow tag just said bow only either sex and the muzz tag said muzz only anterless?

Isn't it better that we can use either tag or both during either season? What if you see a nice buck and you're MLing? What if you took a doe with bow and had to burn an either sex tag? I like it better this way that we have more choices.

No. For whatever reason they didnt add it onto the tags as a weapon or choice yet. Probably because they are expecting it to change again after next season anyway, so why change it twice.

That's what I'll do on Saturday hopefully...thats probably why they didnt make crossbow its own box since within a year or 2 will be fully legal in archery season
