Deerthug
My season is done. I'm making tag soup for dinner LOL. What an interesting season I had this year. Didnt shoot a turkey or a deer. I saw so many turkey and deer during the preseason. But barely saw anything decent during the firearms or muzzy seasons. Gave up my DMP but ended up with a new toy for muzzy season. Unfortunately I didn't get to shoot it. Good news is my bro in law saw the big 10 I've been after all season still running the does so he's still around. If he survives the winter he'll be massive next year and even better news bow opens Oct 1st. Just think only 10 1/2 months until then. Something to look forward to. I will definitely be a frequent visitor to this site to ease my hunting withdrawal. Edited December 17, 2011 by Deerthug
Lawdwaz
Well, sounds like you have a lot to look forward to next year. Get practicing with that bow!
dave6x6
Deerthug. Sorry the season didn't end with a dead deer but hopefully you had fun none the less.. Hopefully you'll get a crack at that big guy next season. New toys are always good. For me "gear season" starts Wednesday..LOL
Deerthug
No worries. Its not always about the kill. I felt good being able to get out on my stand more times than last year and being one with nature. There is always next year. I'm gonna be looking at end of season sales myself in the next couple of weeks.
Doc
Lol..... Maybe I should have stuck with it and tried a bit of the late archery season. I would have done good hiding along side of the barn. 5 does grazing in the front yard yesterday afternoon. They don't even know there's a hunting season still going on. Well, I guess I've had enough for this year. Tomorrow I'll get the shotgun cleaned up and put away for the year and start organizing my critter calling stuff. WNYBuckHunter
Sorry to hear you didnt tag anything this year. Ill be done after tomorrow night, then Im taking a couple of days off of hunting before hitting up the coyotes, plus goose opens again after Christmas, then shed season is coming up. I guess I dont really take much of a break from it lol.
Deerthug
I'll probably head back up sometime in January to go after some Yotes. I'm hoping to skin them and have a hat made for my son or a fur coat for me LOL!
Jennifer
Deerthug, I'm with you this year! Couldn't put eyes on a turkey all season, and then nothing but does during deer seasons (I didn't draw a doe tag). I even got skunked the few times I went out for squirrels. Feels strange to have no meat at all this year! Still, the time in the woods was excellent, as always, and I wouldn't trade it. Plus, I can get back out after squirrels and grouse again now! Deerthug
Feels strange to have no meat at all this year! It sure does. I was hoping to make some venison stew for Christmas Day but I guess that's not going to happen. Maybe I'll have some left over Tag Soup. You should check out my homemade recipe for Tag Soup under the Recipe section on the forum - No worries though, my family will not starve . . .
