I have been planting them in august, so some of the turnips were basketball sized.

That’s probably part of your problem, IMO you want turnip bulbs to be about baseball size softball at the very most. Younger less woody plants are more preferred typically. The bigger the plant and bulb the more woody it is. Which comes back to preference. Smaller bulbs are more sweet and tasteful

So i did the clover and beans mix only and after rain today the temps are going to be in 40s
Hopefully the bean seed is not ruined. I know clover will be fine.
 

It won’t hurt anything. Freezing temps are not wanted when beans sprout. That’s about it.
