I have to agree with most. The dooms day predictions are a cause of much of this. That stock is so basic yet effective, hard to ban that stock I would think. Technicaly it is still a single shot, WOW, unreal. I look forward to cheap weapons in 2013, think thats when I will scoop up my new guns and ammo.

Otherwise I can't blame the young for being pissed, our system is pathetic and now health care is forced upon us and if we can not afford it we pay a penalty when we can not aford that. Does not work...

Next mandatory employment or work for the gov doing what they say to pay for your health care and what ever else they want to force on us.

Tax on a pack of Marlboro, 5$. Federal tax, state tax, Medicare, Social Security, Video camera's for police run by the private sector for finacial gain of the town, state or county, invalid imo. Widening gap between the wealthy and the poor and shrinking middle class with the majority going to the poorer side. Excessive student loans a housing mortage crisis and a bunch of middle East flare ups, and just for kick throw in a Dooms day predition or two and yes, you have conditions that cause fear and preperation for dooms day. Next you will hear about all the undergound shelters, all up for sale in 2013... Time to buy some Twinkies, lol.

I may be mis-reading the tone of this thread or misunderstanding some of the comments here (and I really hope I am), but really, I'm not ready to give in to paranoia just yet. Sure enough conditions in this country are not truly wonderful and perfect. And certainly, I do not like a lot of the directions that we are heading. But I think we are a long way from having to amass an arsenal and begin planning for the overthrow of our government. I've got to tell you that for all my life, I have been hearing about how the world is going to hell in a handbasket. I heard it from my Grandfather way back when I was a little guy and almost every day ever since. The doom and gloom has been preached non-stop probably long before I ever came on the scene. And yet here we are, still living at the top of the world food chain. Of course anything is possible, and we need to be ever-vigilant as to the undermining of our way of life. But care must be taken that we don't let our fears over-rule our common sense and sanity. This discussion about conditions in America coupled with the talk about the accumulation of arms and ammunition makes us sound just a little on the crazy side.....lol.

For those that would advocate or even consider such things as violent overthrow of this government, I think some time should be spent thinking about what they would replace it with. We spend a lot of time complaining about the government and that's understandable, but let's not forget just what is really at the root of all the things that we perceive is wrong and corrupt about our system ...... that being the mental frame of entitlement that grips the citizens who comprise the government. It is this mentality of demanding something for nothing that drives the government. You can overthrow governments, but that basic mentality that exists in the people will still remain. So, for those that might have notions of blowing it all up with armed insurrection and starting over, just remember that old saying about being careful what you wish for ..... you just might get it. It may look good in the movies, but I wonder how much we would welcome that reality and the results that would come after.

Doc, Echelon is a real government program, not a hoax or conspiracy. They actually had a segment on 60 Minutes years ago. Yes, key words trigger it and the computer will spit out this thread and we will read it to make sure there is not threat in it.

As far as your second statement, no one is advocationg a trouble, just saying prepare for it should it happen.

In a some what related topic, the success of Hunger Games has people picking up archery all over.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with the story, it's a teenage book about a post-apocalyptic world where children are annually thrown into an arena to kill each other in a contest. The main character (Katniss) ends up in the games and leading the rebellion. Her key to survival was that her father taught her how to hunt with the bow in order to feed herself and the family.

The story is now the new "Twilight" and teens and young adults are going crazy for all things "Hunger Games" including taking up archery. And yes, that is why my niece got interested in hunting and archery and I bought her a bow this past Christmas.

I don't believe our government serves the people any more. I believe that they serve their party instead. If that is true it is our duty as outlined in our own declaration of independance to throw off such a government I believe. The fix is simple no party system and all else remains the same.

Very well said, and it was warned about during the creation of this nation. The founding fathers knew that power corrupts and that is why we have have our 1st & 2nd Amendment rights.

Damn, sit in trees...you weren't kidding. I was looking to buy a few 223 rounds and so much stuff is backordered or sold out. Even training rounds and snap caps are backordered. Some shops still have inventory but even that it's not a full stock.
