Anybody Hunt On Long Island?

I usually only hunt in upstate new york and am new to hunting li. this would be my first season and i wanted to know besides the seasonal acces permit what must i do in order to get out into the woods?

Welcome to Long Island. In October the seasonal access permit will allow you to park at any of the DEC managed lands parking areas for hunters until the Ridge check Station. When the Ridge staion opens you will need to check in to get a daily access permit. The station opens about 45 minutes before sunrise to le big game hunters out and then will let the small gamers go out. You can get a permit up until 2:00 or 2:30 I can't remember. There is also the state parks and county parks wich are adifferent process. You will need to contact the state and county parks departments for more information.

nailed alot of big deer on Long Islands east end. i used to live in East Hampton before i move upstate. Couldnt take the crowds and too many nature lovin anti's.

i hunt long island and love it. its hard to nail a spot down that no ones ever hunted... alot of hunters on LI but we have huge deer none the less..

I used to hate that when I was in the Marine Corps and folks referred to Yonkers as "upstate" ......anything north of the Bronx was upstate .........

I thought anything past the Whitestone/Triboro/Throggs Neck bridges IS UPSTATE. Hell the city's been trying to get rid of the Bronx for centuries! LOL
