Summit verus Lone Wolf

My first climber was a Summit.  I used it for several years.  It worked great but was pretty heavy.  I gave it to a friend when I upgraded to a Lone Wolf hand climber which I used for quite a few years.  I sold that and then bought myself a Lone Wolf Sit -n- Climb.  I like the bar around me and feel much safer with it than I did with the hand climber.  I'm not sure what the guys are talking about when they say they have to "climb over the bar" as  I've never done that before.  I've never had trouble with the cable system and have even climbed smooth trees (although I know that's not too smart).  I feel extremely safe with the LW climber.  I have never once slid down the tree during the hundreds of times I have been up and down a tree.  The stand is so quiet that on numerous occasions I have only been half way up the tree with my bow still on the ground and have had deer within bow range of me.  I use my LW climber every single time I go hunting, which is just about everyday.  It is definitely well worth the money and if I ever had to, I would buy another one without hesitation.

Been hunting using the climber a good bit this late season and it reminded me about one other thing I actually hate about the summit.

It has flat bars as a platform rather than metal mesh, this gets super cold and then makes your feet super cold.

If you have the extra $150 get the LW.

I never tried a Lone wolf stand, so I can't comment either good or bad on that brand.  But I do own a Summit Goliath climber. Love it a lot. very easy to use and very comfortable while up in a tree. I have an older version, the newer ones come with their "dead silence" insulation inside the tubing to cut down on the noise factor. Look's like these newer models might just be better than the older ones!!

If you have one of the older ones, you can get some of that spray insulation foam and a longer piece of tubing to attach to the can, and add it yourself. You just have to go slow and steady.

I own a summit bushmaster, love the stand. Not going to find any stand more secure and comfy than a summit.

Lone Wolf is owned by a guy who likes to sneak up as close to a giant bucks bed as possible and set up on him. Sometimes he is almost close enough to see them. They were designed to be the quietest stand available. So, if that's important to you, consider Lone Wolf.

Have both a summit open shot and a lone wolf hand climber. I really like the lone wolf a lot better. Its lighter and packs down smaller. Much quieter to climb with and once you get to your desired height and pull the cinch straps tight the stand is rock solid. I also just ordered a lone wolf hang on and will he trying that out soon. You really can't go wrong with either stand since they are the two best companies out there. I will say this my summit is def more comfortable but I'm not there to sleep I'm there to hunt!!

P.s. trying to sell summit will take 100 for the stand its in good working condition.

Muddy makes a hang on stand that locks on with a plate and can be easily taken off each time you leave the tree combined with sticks it's a nice option

Andrae sold that company years ago. It's also not been the same since. Andrae is consulting with XOP now.

Even though Andre is not there any longer lone wolfs are still the best stands on the market. It kind bothers me that they started xop and are selling the same exact stand even if he did have the idea for it. Just doesn't seem right to me. I have both a hand climber and recently purchased an assault and they are both awesome stands.
