Winter gear

I need to get new winter gear. These temps disrespected my winter clothes lol. By the 9th hour I was numb. I was looking at the Cabelas MT050 line. Any recommendations?

Stuff usually goes on major discount during off season. I bought a nice winter coat one summer off Cabelas for like $60. Wearing it right now with sweat shirt and t shirt in Sterling at 25 degrees weather and i'm fine.

I got the cabelas stand hunter base layer,a little more than I wanted to spend but it makes a huge difference. The other thing I got was a jacket that blocks the wind. I also have a small scarf that I use around my neck. My core is warm now but still need to work on my feet.

I will be trying the IWOM next time arounf.Right now my stand hunter coveralls work great though

I have an iwom. Let me know if you have any questions. Its nice but takes some getting used to.

I had the HBS but hated the bulk and the IWOM looks perfect with the arms out.What are some of the negatives of it phade?

Can be noisy against tree and also the feet area is a little tough to learn. You can rotate fine but its hard to trust until you get some time in it. Better suited for bigger platforms on hangons or large ladders. Small ladder platforms are not as nice.

I read where one guy uses a tree cover behind his seat so its not so loud with the rubbing.I think this will be my late christmas present to me after I am done shopping for the rest of the family this year

I have the MT050 parka and I think it's great.  I also have the MT050 mittens and they're great also.  I've never been disappointed in gear from Cabelas.  I have a heavy pair of bibs from them as well- and they're great as well.  I'm sure the Outfitter series is great, too.

Problem is the wind…Combine real cold temps with wind and the best clothes in the world are going to be challenged. For extreme cold and wind I like heavy wool, for long sits. Its bulky and heavy but it is tough to beat when you plan to spend a lot of time staying put. I have Woolrich and Columbia wools. …Good stuff.

Like some of the others mentioned, Cabelas has great sales in the off-season.  Bargain Cave.  I've always gotten exactly what I wanted and paid anywhere from 25-50% off by keeping an eye on the website in the off-season.

Two years ago I bought a water-resistant blaze orange hooded insulated hunting jacket on clearance at Cablea's for about $60. Sat in the snow and rain last year and upper body stayed dry.  Did add a body warmer since it dropped to the 20's plus the windchill.  Think it was AGO brand. It is pretty quiet fabric.

Heard three shots from the Northern area of Sterling on my way to work, two quick and and about 2 minutes later a single-shot around 8ish.  Sound-ed like the same gun for all three.  Was that you?

Nothing to be jealous of. I took Monday and Tuesday off thinking it would be prime hunting. Instead it rains Monday and I didn't see anything with 4 legs all day Tuesday. Plus it was windy and freezing. I got to Sterling at around 9AM and didn't hear a single gunshot till around 4PM way in the distance. I stayed around Indian Hill area but not on Indian Hill.
