  1. MidwayUSA should have the supplies you need
  2. I started out with Black Hills boat tail hollow points because they grouped great out of my Savage 110 .308 and switched to 150gr Core Lokts this year because I wanted better retention. They had worse grouping (about 1" at 50yds) but performed great on my buck this year with a good exit. The BTHP nuked the heart & lungs but no blood trail to speak of.
  3. I am a big fan of the Nikon Prostaff scopes and have them on all my rifles. Unfortunately they were recently discontinued
  4. Thanks for the link to the actual management plan!
  5. I'm very curious how the adjustment to start/stop times will affect the harvest this year. If it is much higher I wonder if it will prompt an adjustment to the duration of the season(s).
  6. Good luck everyone! I'm always happy to even see a deer but I've got a couple nice bucks on cam so super hopeful!
  7. Nice - I have the same plan for my rifle. Still rocking the synthetic black stock it came with for now! Did you bed the stock yourself?
  8. Beautiful rifle! I'll be using my trusty Savage 110 in .308. This year I'm switching over from Black Hills BTHP to the venerable Remington CoreLokt though.
  9. It really is amazing how far they can go with no heart - my last two rifle deer were heart shots and they both made it 30-40 yards before tumbling. Thinking I'll aim a smidge higher this year.
  10. I always expected the heart would be tough as old boots - I'll have to give it a try!
  11. First hunt out of my new blind, finally! Nice and cozy with heater fired up. Luxury!
  12. Looks great! Trim on the windows and everything
  13. I was wondering about this too. Probably with the heater in there I won't need any insulation anyway.
  14. Can we start a new daily chuckle thread? I liked getting a daily dose of hunting memes...
  15. Thanks! That looks great too! I did look at buying a blind like this, and when lumber prices were stupid high the price difference wasn't that much. In the end I decided to wait it out until lumber got cheap again. Plus I needed something I could haul into the woods in pieces.
  16. Part of the reason I waited so late was for lumber prices to fall back down! Lumber cost was $360 so with screws, hinges, roofing felt, deck stain etc. added on it was right about $500.
  17. Thanks! The footings were a huge pain to haul in to the woods, but between those and the pressure treated floor frame I think it should last a while.
  18. Already got the buddy heater ready! Using the 1lb tanks this year, but I'll get the 20lb tank adapter for next year. I decided against insulation since I think the mice would get in there.
  19. After hunting my property for a couple years in pop-up blinds, I finally build a permanent blind - finished just in time for rifle season. What kind of blinds is everyone else using?
  20. If the yotes eat only part of the animal like this, is it safe to eat the untouched parts? Or is the whole thing a loss?
  21. Checked the trail cams yesterday - hoping I see this guy in the flesh!
