That's over a 2% mortality rate. Please see my post above, not politically or media driven, this is a dangerous disease. -

It's not the number of deaths currently, you have to look at the mortality rate. The mortality rate of the regular flu is around .1%. The coronavirus is floating at 3.2% worldwide. Let's put it in real numbers. Most would agree the mortality rate in the US will probably be lower than the world because of the quality of our healthcare system. So, let's run with a 2% rate, over 1% lower than the worldwide number. There are 330 million, 421 thousand people in the U.S. We know that as of right now, a lot of the population will be affected, there's just no way around it, it's right now about how many are hit at once. So, if 100% of our population gets it, that means 2% die, so, 6 million 608 thousand people die from this thing. We know that not everyone will get it, but until there is a vaccine, there really isn't much protection. Let's say 20% of people get it, that means 1 million, 322 thousand die from it. Anytime we are looking at millions of people dying, that seems like a pretty legit reason to be concerned. Now, I am no math whiz, so please correct me if any of these are wrong. -
Better than what Trump claims to do with women....

Cuomo just banned all gatherings of 500 people or more. https://wnyt.com/health/new-york-banning-major-gatherings-in-effort-to-contain-virus/5672580/?cat=10114 -

Looks like it's ca-puts for my band's opening gig for Granger Smith on Saturday. I'm not too disappointed though, not really worth the risk. https://wnyt.com/health/new-york-banning-major-gatherings-in-effort-to-contain-virus/5672580/?cat=13517 -

I think you should be more concerned about your spelling that the coronavirus right now I'm joking. It's a free country, you can do what you wish, but I hope I can stay away from you for the next few months... -

I did watch it (I don't know why). I thought Trump did his best to come off as calm, and I'm glad he didn't mention "the Democrats" for once. However, he was very unclear, I kind of gasped when he announced the suspension of trade and cargo, which was obviously wrong. In addition, he kind of seemed sick to me. I'm sure it's because he's under a lot of stress, but it didn't seem tired, but actually sick. I'm no doctor, but just one guy's observation. I generally set the bar pretty low when it comes to any of Trump's speeches, but that one may have been one of the most important that he will give during his Presidency. I think he tried, but I just don't think he has it in him to promote calm and unity, it's never been his thing. Fiery, incendiary, even passionate at times, but I think last night proved that he will never be a President capable of promoting calm, right or wrong, he is much better with chaos. Now, I know that this virus is not his fault. I do think that the spread could have been prevented if we didn't gut the CDC and health programs. I also think that they did not take it seriously for the 2 month heads-up that we had, but we are past all of that, there's no going back and fixing it. I really didn't come away from that address last night feeling like this administration has a handle on things. They might, but I haven't seen it come out so far. -

Trump has hotels in Canada, so I doubt the US will be closing that border I'm kind of joking, but part of me wonders if the reason UK and Ireland weren't on the travel ban is because of his golf courses in Scotland and Ireland.... -

We're hoping its gone by then. A couple of my band mates have had "playing at SPAC" on their "Things to do before hanging it up" list for a while. It would really suck for them to get this close and have it pulled out from underneath, but it is what it is Congratulations again on the marriage. Did you ever decide on a watch by the way? I kind of lost track of that thread. -

I tend to agree with their later clasification, though I think calling it "racist" or "xenophobic" is too far. I think that it puts the onus and emphasis on the wrong things. I'll stick with Covid-19 or coronavirus. Would love to see you at Countryfest. It's July 12th, and we play early since we're just the local hacks, but should be fun. Tickets are available now. https://spac.org/event/gna-countryfest-2020/ -

I have not heard anyone call this "Wuhan Virus". Covid-19, yes, coronavirus, yes, but I would like to see support that the proper name for the virus is "Wuhan Virus". Sounds to me like something someone made up to spark outrage. Call it what you want, but this virus belongs to us now, as much as anyone. The president kept calling it a "foreign virus", but it is now a domestic disease, and we have to step up and be accountable. If you want to shift blame and responsibility to someone else, that's your perogative, but it helps no one. -

Are you suggesting that emphasis and fear should be placed on the area where it originated and the people from that region? Is this to create fear and avoidance of people from a certain part of the world. If this is your intent, I feel ashamed for you... -

That is some width! What did it measure out for spread, do you know? Looks like 20" or better to me.

NYS 4-H has been canceling a lot of statewide events for youth and educators today. It's making scheduling pretty difficult. I had a Lock-In with my 4-H Teen group lined up for Saturday, but have postponed it due to several families having family members who are at a higher risk. Not necessarily where I thought we'd be when it was announced that there were 15 cases headed for 0 3 weeks ago, but it's where we're at. Hopefully we can get ahead of this at some point. -
Sorry if this has shown up before, but I'd really like to see your best buck, and even read the story of him. I know that a trophy is in the eye of the beholder, but I'm always interested in hearing a good hunting story. So, post up your biggest and share the story. I got this guy on my wife's grandparents property in November, 2008 in Richland County, Illinois. I had not hunted that woods before, but I knew they had good deer in there. I got in before daylight, found straight tree next to an old fence row about 30 yards into the woods. This guy came in on a string about 8:00am, and I actually let him walk. He went right under my tree, and when he got behind me I saw how tall he was, and pulled the trigger. He went about 50 yards, but I didn't see him fall, so a quick blood trail and I had him. I got my 4-wheeler out of the truck, and when I got him back to the truck, my grandparents-in-law (though we were only dating at the time) met me to see what I got. As I went to load my 4-wheeler back in the truck, the ramp broke, and I flipped the whole kit-n-caboodle, buck and all, right on top of me. Fortunately nothing was hurt but my pride a little bit. Got everything right side up, loaded the wheeler by hand and made the rounds to show off my buck. I had him mounted by a small shop down in western Kentucky that a buddy recommended, and the guy did a fantastic job.

Did anyone feel the earthquake this morning. A 3.1 (not major) centered around South Glens Falls. Felt like a plow truck going by the house, rattled a few bottles, but I wasn't even sure it was an earthquake until they mentioned it on the news. About 10 years ago my wife and I experienced one that was almost right below us, something like a 5.something. There was no doubt of what that one was.

You're about the 5th person to suggest the Codex Alera to me, so it's about time I buckle down on it. It looks like quite the commitment. I'll also check out Lies of Locke Lamora. I know I've glanced at it before, but didn't give it much thought. I'm on a big historical fiction kick right now, but I'm sure I'll be in the mood for some fantasy stuff soon. I'm just about through listening to American Gods, so maybe one of those will be my next audiobook. Thanks for the suggestions!

I listened to the Willie Nelson autobiography "It's a Long Story" (highly recommended if you are a fan). Willie doesn't read the story, but Christopher Ryan Grant is the reader, and has a slow Texas drawl that really matches the tone of the book.

Just started "Master of War" by David Gilman. A historical fiction about an English archer during the fighting in the 100 years war. So far, it's really a great and gripping novel.

It's funny, there are some books that I can't get through in book form, but love the audiobook. There is a fantasy series that I enjoy, The Dresden Files by Jim Butcher, I loved the first couple of audiobooks read by James Marsters. I tried to read the 3rd book and couldn't get through it. A couple of months later I downloaded the audiobook version and loved it. On the other side of the coin, I tried the audiobooks of Game of Thrones, and couldn't get into them. I picked up the books and couldn't put them down. Probably a lot of it comes down to the readers and content. Some things just translate better through written word vs. spoken.
