That's a great idea, I'm stealing it! Thanks for sharing!

Not much of a "prepper" myself and I really don't shoot much. I have around 200 rounds of .22 and some slugs (really just hunting rounds). I figure if the store's sold out or the price is too high on .22's, I don't need to be shooting anyways. However, if I can find some LR, I'm gonna try to get out and plink a little bit this weekend.

My heart breaks for a of you dealing with these situations. My thoughts and prayers are with you. -
My dad had this dilemma a few years ago. The way he figured it is that he would be in his 80's by the time he drew enough pension to match the lump sum. I hope he's wrong, but he said he doesn't want to count on making it that long. He took the lump and invested it. Certainly pro's and con's to both....

Just a quick update on my daughter. Saturday was a really tough day, she was a little furnace and really felt terrible. Yesterday her fever broke and she actually ate something. This morning she woke up bright and cheery and ready to play. You can tell she's not back to 100%, I'm sure being sick took a lot out of her, but she's getting there. I'm glad it didn't turn out to be anything major, and I appreciate the well wishes from forum members. Thank you!- 4810 replies

Squirrel Scopes

I'll have to look into the Ghost Ring, never messed with them. I'd love to stay with a period peep, but they are bringing about as much as the gun at auction. And yes, adding a rail/scope would be sacrilege IMO Thanks for the advice! -

I really don't want to drill and tap it. It has been drilled and tapped at the back of the receiver for a peep, but that's it. I know I could mount Weaver rail on it, but really, with it being over 100 years old, I'd like to preserve it at period as much as I can. I think I can do well enough with open sights to knock a few out at close range with shorts. If I can't, at least I'll have fun trying -
Just don't loose focus on your follow-through. I find that when I'm battling some target panic, it helps to put my mind on what I'm doing after the shot, and taking it off the shot itself. Seems to work for me. Good luck!

Curious what scope everyone is using on their squirrel guns. I'm going to be setting up my Remington 550 for LR this year, and ran across an old Tasco 4x32 in a bag of stuff, I really don't remember where I got it. I always used an adjustable x on my old 550 for squirrel, but when it was stolen, the scope went with it. Kind of interested to see what it's like with a fixed power. If memory serves me right, I always floated between 4x and 6x when I was hunting with shorts in my old 550. I'm going to be sighting in my recently acquired Remington Model 12 for shorts this year and going with the iron sights, seeing as the peeps are bringing stupid money for those guns.

As sad as it is, it sounds like John Prine is barely hanging on. I hope things turn around for him.

I hope so

Tough news today for fans of country music. Joe Diffie died today due to complications from coronavirus. Honestly, this one really sucks for me, he was one of my country music giants. I can't tell you the number of times I've covered a Joe Diffie song. Country music lost a superstar today.

Thanks for the prayers and well wishes SW, I truly do appreciate it. Sounds like it's a stomach bug, so hopefully it passes in a few days. Still not feeling her best this morning. If I quarantined my politics, who would you have on here to feel superior to, and who would consistently prove you wrong? In other words, where's the fun in that Take care man, I do truly appreciate you. -

Just went through the first 20 pages of this thread, and am amused at how some of the biggest proponents of " keep them downstate, we don't want it up here" have changed their tunes.... "Is this viruses as serious as reported? IMHO, no." "I'm not sure what all the fuss is about. If anyone has a Lysol wipes container, read the back. It says it kills "Human Corona Virus". In other words, this disease is nothing new." "I don't trust the fact that the liberal media is not over-hyping this as much as possible to bury the markets, discredit the Trump administration and make us all Socialists!! If I die from Coronavirus I will retract this opinion!!" "This corona virus has got to be the biggest global paranoia I've ever seen in my 56 years of life. I just can't believe how the world is freaking out over this. If 20%, 30% or 40% of those who contract it were dying maybe I'd be worried, but the percentage is nowhere close to those numbers. I couldn't imagine if something truly serious hit this planet. It would without a doubt be doomsday for humanity. The panic alone would wipe out half the earths inhabitants. Unbelievable!" "This whole thing is ridiculous. 18,000 people have died this year in the USA of the regular flu! The rate of death is off as well. Once the numbers including countries with high levels of health care, and not places that use ground up rhinoceros horn and parrot balls to cure shit, gets figured in the rate will be similar or lower than the regular flu. If you notice anyplace it is hot right now there are zero to minimal cases so it also looks like the regular flues this will diminish once the weather gets warmer." "Paranoia, that's all it really is and the media sensationalizing it all since it is generating BIG revenue for them. It's truly unbelievable where this has been taken." I'm sure there's more, but 20 pages was enough entertainment for me -

In all likelihood it is just a kid sickness, this certainly isn't the first time she's been sick. It's just that the first thing your mind gravitates to is an extreme. Thanks for the advice and support this far everyone, I appreciate it. -

My view has not changed from the beginning, this is serious, it has been serious, and will probably be serious far beyond Easter. I just hope it's not what my little girl has... -

We've been doing Tylenol, and it helps. Just tried some a little bit ago and she threw it up. She's currently napping in my lap... -

My one year old daughter is sick right now, puking occasionally, puny, and has been having on and off fever. We're trying to work with the phone nurse so we don't have to take her anywhere, but obviously the first thing to come to mind is Covid. I seriously hope that is not the case, it's pretty scary right now. -

Not true, Trump knew it was going to be a pandemic from the very beginning, he said so himself. https://apnews.com/dbddbcf6cb4b17420e4a08820b73d4be -

This is not new information, this was announced at the beginning, prisoners would only be used to bottle the hand sanitizer that's being mixed by an outside vendor. See this article from March 10th. https://abcnews.go.com/Health/prison-inmates-ny-produce-100k-gallons-hand-sanitizer/story?id=69501815 Prisons don't have the infrastructure to produce it, and prisoners are not even allowed to touch it, only fill and package the bottles.
