I was afraid that this is going to happen

Sad but DEC will be in no hurry to get out there to sample some of the local herd if they can’t get either one of those 2 he had pic’s of. -

That looks more like an EHD sickness. Bit and dead within days. Not long drawn out wasting away like CWD. -
Damn......I'm going to have to call the D.E.C. again

It sure points to cwd. Can’t believe it’s age but also strange the vermin have not killed them. I would love to see them get tested for cwd. -

We have not had a case since 2005 in the wild and behind fence. Hate to say it but that’s not EHD. That gives them fever and dead within days. Is this anywhere close to the Pa border? They have piles of cases of cwd and hunting moves along. Hate to say it but DEC will not Pursue this because they don’t want CWD found in the wild first but Dept Of Ag would be all over it if notified. -

Interesting article on CWD and deer farms.
Four Seasons replied to First-light's topic in Deer Hunting
Let’s be real here. This lady is at the top of the deer farming game. She has been double fenced and a closed herd… As myself… for years. She lives in Wisconsin where if one was to get educated they over reached when the first cases in the wild came out and they shot every Whitetail on site year around and decimated the herd, saying that the shit was going to kill deer hunting forever! Well as you can see the CWD positive herd rebuilt itself back into the millions in a few short years and it continues on today. They are doing nothing to stop the spread in wild deer yet they try and shut down every farm that gets it???? That again points to the real only killer cwd is and that’s government trying to wipe out their competition. Fact. Now this lady is also the leader in breeding CWD….. Which is the same exact thing as Scrapies in sheep… out of deer farms so she was a bigger target. Do you see any rules against sheep farmers? Hell No! If anyone thinks cwd is more than just Pneumonia in Whitetails and is anything close to the real deer killer in EHD needs their head examined. -
Not much different then a trail cam that vibrates your ass when your buck walk out into the field. And people have issues with High Fence. Whatever !!

No season anytime in the near future would be my guess. If Ever.

I could give a rats behind what someone kills. Does not take much to hear in the hunting world or even on this site of people saying that they were watching and chasing such and such buck and then make statements that they harvested a smaller one for such and such reason. That’s settling for less than what one started out to accomplish. Some of us will not be satisfied with less than what they set out to accomplish. But very few of us left in this world without a doubt.

Anyone else curiously wonder what’s on that branch that all these great bucks seem to be interested in? Deer Farmers Secret!

Or at the very least admit that he is always in the hope that the biggest will walk in front of him before the smallest. I honestly can’t imagine going hunting anymore without a goal. I still love the hunt and still get the trill but need a goal. I have built my life around these animals and have made sure I did what it took to secure great hunting grounds so I will never be without. Yet I still travel hours across the state to do so elsewhere. Goals for this year are below. Will I take bigger if it presents itself? You betcha. But you won’t see smaller takin for meat purposes. Have plenty of tags for that. Hopefully this year one of these two will take the ride home on October 1st and not make me chase them thru the Rut.

Exactly. It’s called growth. So grow and challenge themselves and others spend the least amount of time and the fastest way to get the job done. To each their own

Or you are lacking. Don’t need ego when one speaks facts and truths.

See Dude that’s where your all wet. I drive the same distance when I have 1000 acres and as you see all kinds of game right behind my house. I drive because that’s where the biggest of the best of what I do live and I need the challenge to kill the best of my sport. I get the same shit you get and have for 40 years. Except I also get the better satisfaction of knowing I beat the best at on its turf. I need to “Hunt”. Not just shoot. I can take any person any day with me and they will kill a deer if they are after any deer. Is that real tough? Is that really hunting or is that just shooting? I mean come on. It don’t take much fortitude to kill just any deer and some of us that have killed 100’s need a little more. And those hunters get everything you get and more. There are different hunters as in those that find a quarry and Hunt it or the weekend warriors or the guy that shoots the first deer he see’s. So be it. BUT. I can guarantee that every most of those hunters hope pray and want to kill the biggest buck in their woods. Many just don’t have what it takes to finish the job. Antlers and big bucks, bulls what have you have driven the hunting world for years. And nothing is going to change.
-
Yeah again. We see all kinds of pictures of little spikes and 4 points all over the place. We don’t see every contest giving the best prizes for the biggest bucks. We don’t see awards givin for the biggest bucks. We don’t se any manufacturers for any hunting related items use that sweet little 6 inch spike as their selling point. Hell tell me we don’t see people in this very site say things like….. I was after the big 8 or 10 I had been seeing on camera but with only a week or two left I figured I better take this 6 I have seen a handful of times. Only a complete idiot could not see that antler and inches drive the Whitetail world. If you are part of that group then that’s on you.
-
Checked a few cam’s on the back 40. Guess I should take up bear hunting.
-
Right. But they let the little bucks walk with the hope of a larger one. It’s amazing that you never see a site bragging up 4 or 6 pointers. First those of us need the challenge of chasing a worthy adversary when it comes to Whitetails. Its not real tough to just shoot any deer and if a person claims to be just after the meat has any tags left after the first week of every season should prop take up another hobby. Second as I have told you before that I don’t have to ever protect my business when antlers drive 99.9% of the hunting world. And for the meat. My 120-130 inch bucks shot give me a whole bunch of that also.
-
If a 5pt was the biggest in my woods…Doubtful biggest in yours… I would hunt different woods. Meat is not a problem. It’s the challenge one needs to match wits with the biggest and smartest on their turf.
-
I hunt for the challenge of killing the biggest antlered buck in my woods. Thing is that I don’t settle for less. I will kill one of them or I will kill nothing. I still get the experience, I still get the challenges, I still get the time in the woods and I still get the accomplishments. I am no different then anyone else and I wake up at 4am every morning and chase those same big antlered bucks I and every other hunters works for and dreams about. I just won’t accept less. Even contest on this site gives credit for bigger bucks with more antler points. Again pushing the big antlers matter agenda. Every hunting item sold has big antlers as the bait Hunters work their asses off and spend thousands every year trying to kill the biggest buck in their area. Most just accept defeat and settle for less. But they are still after them and thinking about them 24/7. Fact!
-
You generally hold out for a 5pt or better? Hence looking for bigger antlers so it is a driven need If it was a meat thing then you would pop the first legal deer that walked out and be done with it. Nobody wakes up at 4am with the hope and dream of killing the biggest 5pt in the woods. Nobody puts out trail cameras trying to find a 5pt buck. Every hunter wakes every morning with the hope and dream of killing the biggest beast in their woods. Many just dont have the fortitude to stick with that and accept something smaller.
