I do believe that animals behind fences synchronize, much like females in the same house. The bell curve is much steeper for deer in captivity than in the wild. But I've also never seen an April drop, even though just last night there was some decent chasing going on in the corn in front of me. Chasing, yes...locked down breeding, probably not, with the caveat that there's always the exception to prove the rule.

It's going to be interesting to see how the early full moon affects the cycle this year.

Do you think they synchronize by themselves just because their behind fence?

First off, I think we need to separate "bucks chasing does" and estrous cycles. Bucks will bump does quite regularly, it does not mean that a doe is in estrus. I'm sure a doe has come into estrus early at some point, but nature has the ultimate determination of that, just because you get a cold front has no bearing on the reproductive cycles. I've witnessed bucks grunt and push a doe 50 yds in a field several times in the first few days of the season, it's fairly common for bucks to bother does. Fawns born to early are doomed, as well as too late. Nature determines the cycle, not the weather, not because bucks are pushing does, not because you hear a doe bleat etc... Is it impossible? Probably not, is it likely, absolutely not.

Exactly.  Amazes me how so many “ Hunters” are so far off the mark when it comes to that stuff. You could probably count on one hand the number of fawns born in Ny state in April. If it does not happen in the most cared for stress free animals behind fence it does not happen very often outside.

No matter how scent free my clothing can be my firearms scent would negate any effort, the chemicals  used to maintain them like Hoppes, Ballistol, Frog Lube, etc. all stick to high Heaven.

Exactly.  Money grab by camo makers. Guy walks around in a $1000 outfit and carries a Stinky turd in his hand. Wash as needed and play the wind. Scent free soap. Ok.

I rarely have internet connection when I’m on stand, but when I do I like to share on the Live From the woods thread. Even if it is only two does.

I just thought people were like me when it comes to getting excited over what’s going on out there. With me still working at my age full time in the medical field, I like the read about what people are seeing in the field when I’m not able to be there myself.

Deer, squirrels or what ever, I picture in my mind what it feels like to be there myself.

oh…. Now I need to get back to work and see patients. Glad I was able to see the successful squirrel pic during my lunch break. My turn tomorrow!

That’s fine and well. Others don’t feel the need to post up their lives on the internet. Some like to do running days of what they drink or eat and so on. I personally like sharing all that with real live people in my core group. Actually I think I am the only one in that group even on a hunting site. Some just feel the need to live on the computer I guess.

More posts here than Live from the Woods thread? Come on ladies & gents...get out there!

Personally when something of value… that does not happen to every other Hunter out there, like I saw 3 does and 2 fawns and the bugs were horrendous…I will post up. Some live on the computer per se and some live daily with those that they really know.

No I didn't buy another firearm.  Actually I'm selling off a few that I never use.  This year I'm turning 68 in December and looking to retire in the spring of 24.

I've been thinking about getting back on a bike for at least 8 years now, having sold my last one 10 years ago.  I really got hooked on the brand new 2023 HD Breakout and just decided to do it.  Picked it up 9/20/23 and already have 400 miles on the clock.  I plan on riding as much as I can when the weather is nice before the winter sets in.

Since it's too warm for hunting right now, this is the perfect backup plan for me.  I'm back in the saddle again.

Nice Bike I did the same but stuck with 4 wheels. New company wheels if you will.

You're nothing more than POS jizz jerker, and a keyboard Poser, that is likely a very poor hunter. You have to come on a forum to boast about how good you are??? How many forum members can vouch to hunting with you??? NONE! Because you do little of it, and it would expose you for what you are. You just do what the controlling partners of the deer farm tell you to do. You're just a "hand"dy man there in truth. The only one who keeps stirring the shit pot here is YOU mayor.

In all the years I've been a member here, I always knew you for what you REALLY are. A sad little man, that needs to build himself up with a keyboard. While putting down others to feel good about yourself. Some things never change. If you just went away from here, no one would miss you. I can guarantee you that!!

One only has to look at my past posts to see what kind of hunting I do old man. And that every kind. You can only dream about doing what I do or have on a daily basis. When you can match what I own you let me know. You jealousy continues to shine thru. When you can match any of the critters I post up on this forum then you might have a chance to even come remotely close. Actually. I can say with certainty that I have never seen a post of your with any kind of outdoors involved. All you can do is congratulate everyone else. Time for your medications I would guess. Or is it nap time?

You are a masochist. You twist and turn. Stop with the other site. Leave it alone let us be. Look I enjoy seeing you fenced bucks and what you do with them. But you are the one person left on this site that stirs stuff up. Why, cause some guys talk crap about you on other site then come back here. You my friend can't handle it. Let it go show us some 200" bucks and we move on. There are people under each others skin it can keep on going or you let it go. Let's have a great season and enjoy each others comments. Even if they don't go your way. Peace!

Seriously. Stop with the other site!  I could give two shits about the other site. And as you can read I bring up nobody’s name on this site from that site. I’m not even a member over there and there is still a half dozen guys over there that bring my name up over there. And we all know there is a reason for it.   And I love it!!!!                             Talk about feeding the trolls!

Another post to lock up and who is at the base of it......lol

No reason for a lock up of a post showing nothing but truths and facts. Your finding it hard to let go again I see.

Four seasons you are warped. You do more bitching than anyone. Yeah do us a favor and just stay put.

People that tell the truth are warped huh. I have no problem staying put.  Seems to me it’s you that can’t let go.

Yeah. You see me posting all kinds of crap about others huh?  Funny even yourself had to make stupid comments with me being involved on that other site. I love living rent free in a bunch of those weak minds.

I am not as well prepared as our friend wolc for taking care of meat in this hot weather, supposed to be like this all week. I think I will just keep getting after the Squirrels for now. Hopefully by time muzzleloader season comes around it will be a bit cooler.

    Al

Way too hot. Plus I am after only one class of animal so I stay out of my areas until the time is best to strike. All the fields are still standing in corn and beans so the critters like to hand out in them.

Are you on there or go as a anonymous guest?

Just went in and checked out Bill and Belo bitching about this site.  Amazingly my name comes up a whole bunch over there. They talk about the site here and it’s people are like an Ex Girlfriend yet they can’t keep either off their lips. Strange.            I can live without listening to the pack everyday so I will stay put.  It’s perfect now.

Im on both as I'm on several forums . I don't have a beef with anyone on either sight . Your comment got me wondering  so  i just looked at sight activity and its very unfortunate looking at the stats .
579 guests is sad ,  they could be members  If the owner would take some responsibility in his sight .

Agreed. But it’s always been that way. Even with open doors more don’t walk in then do. The other site, which they say is so much better only gets a couple new people a month and if you look even closer most of the ones they get were here at one time.  Not new members. Times are changing and it shows in the numbers all around the boards.

There’s definitely something to that pack mentality thing.  I’m thinking I might run into some of the real thing, up your way, on early ML week.  An older couple, up the road from where I hunt on the other side of Ft Drum, recently got a pair of young, supposedly “feral” dogs.

The dogs seem ok alone, but they cause lots of trouble when they get loose together.  Seems they are on the “outs” with everyone else in the area now.

I’m hoping I don’t run into them loose on any of my early morning or later afternoon hunts up that way.   I’ll only have one shot available quick, for the first (7) days, anyhow.  I’ll need to rely on my Buck 110, for the second one, if it comes to that.  I guess I will have to practice a quick draw and open with that.

9mm on the right hip always takes care of any issues.

I have a big time problem being around a bunch of adults acting and bickering like two year olds and old gossiping biddies, I will never go on the other site, I like it just fine right here.

    Al

Exactly. And it’s not hard to see where it comes from. The pack mentality!! You see they live their life on the computer and it reflects. When one has to put a thread up on a computer and live out their lives on it there is a problem. This place now has everything needed without all the drama. Enjoyable to come to again.

I don’t think there’s anyone over there, who doesn’t have something good to offer, but there are a few who make it very difficult to separate the wheat from the chaff.

Point being… same people that lived on this site now live on that one. You don’t see new members jumping all over that site even though they can.

There are few things more relaxing and fun than fishing, I get out when I can and wish I had more time to fish. Been thinking about getting another boat but I have been so busy I don't know if it would get enough use for the investment.

    Al

Exactly where I am at. Heading to 300 Whitetails and all the land work keeps me busy but I always make the time for the granddaughter and a friends dock a few times a month. Even went to the boat show this summer but finding it hard to pull the trigger.

I’m doing much better so far, with posting harvest threads on this site, than on that other one.  (Sorry about the bb on the first one FSW, I honestly thought that one was a doe).  I made damn sure that the second one was.

The harvest threads are less than a day old over on the other site though, so hopefully they will make it work.

Thank you WNYBH and FEddie for keeping those harvest threads going here.  I hope you are able to get the other issues resolved with the site owner, welcoming new members, etc.

May you all have an enjoyable deer season this year.

Ya know what’s really funny. They complain about this site not letting new members in… Not good, I get it… but that other site is just all made up of the same exact people that always lived on this site. Minus the couple friends of the guy that started that site it’s just made up of kickbacks from this site. More or less that site is like this one, new can come in but few do and those that do rarely post. Some should get a real life and not have to live their lives through a computer. Same people, same posts, different site.
