You have some nice ones, I really like that 9 pointer -
PA has DMAPS.. residents pay $11 non-residents $36 and you can shoot a doe... they release so many tags per property depending on size/deer population... mostly just a bunch of logging companies but I bet if the DEC incentivized it, private landowners in NY would get on board. Earn a buck tags are great concepts too.

are those wolves?

I am ok with it, I would rather have them implementing extra hunting opportunities to deal with the overpopulation as opposed to some of their other questionable tactics (sterilization). It is antlerless only so it is not like you are giving rifle hunters a leg up when it comes to harvesting a trophy buck.

you guys are right but compared to my usual diet, venison will be an upgrade lol

Venison is lower in cholesterol and fat than other red meats and is fine to eat that much. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I work roughly 180 12hr shifts per year. How many deer do I need to shoot to take a venison meal to work everyday? For reference Im an average eater, no Kobayashi Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I live in the burbs, unable to shoot at home. I have a small target I’ve been taking to park. Are there any 3d ranges near Rome? Id like to practice shooting at fake deer instead of my cube. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I only have 4 cameras out, all on different properties. This makes it a bear on 3 of the 4! All of the bears have been small but this one is by far the smallest. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I prefer this…. Its super mobile and comes with climate control Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Not 100% sure but I think once opened it is only good for 14 days. So 25-50 bucks for a year isnt too bad. Yes the ventilation would be an issue. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I came across a John Eberhart video where he talks about the importance of scent control. He goes to pretty extreme with it. I also noticed ScentLok has a pair of pants and jacket with his name associated with them. I dont want to pay all that money for that gear. Being a military guy I am all to familiar with MOPP Gear and happened to find a site that sells suits for $25. If one were to wear a suit to hide scent, this is it.. its designed to be worn in chemical warfare environments. For archery specific, how careful is everyone with their scent control? I like the idea of just playing the wind, think its a fruitless effort to try and hide my human scent from a wild animal. However if many of you swear by it, if I were to adopt some scent control processes, this may be one of the items I utilize. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

100% and being that I hunt public land, I am not able to take advantage of those other options. True though about the other responsibilities, one cool thing is Ive gotten my family involved. They like to drive around and go spotting… its paid off too as we’ve found a couple nice bucks. Two birds/one stone.. family time away from electronics and some low key scouting! That is correct and I got into this deer scouting thing a little late (May) and do plan on scouting extensively after this season to prepare for following years. However I wouldnt discount summer scouting all together. For one the buck movement is late sept/early oct is different that late oct/early nov and different than late nov/dec. All three periods require a different “approach”. I think summer scouting can help with the early season and also somewhat indirectly although not a much with the rut and late season because you can see what deer live in the area. Its too bad that the military is struggling, I think they need to focus less on the “woke” concepts and do a better job at telling the story of how the military can benefit people’s lives directly. I hit my 15yr mark in the USAF next month and don’t regret my choice to enlist and then commission. Honestly my motivation for joining was for the individual benefits the service could provide and the political factors were not a factor. What have I gained? 1. Free bachelors degree 2. Free trips to Europe and the Middle East. I did deploy to Iraq but my other deployments were more like vacations. 3. I work with some of the best people in the world, the lifelong friendships are invaluable. 5. Great benefits and a pay check that provides a good life for my family and I. Hunting Specific 4. Now that I am full time in the NY ANG, I work a panama schedule, with 30 days leave a year that means I am able to have 6 separate week long spans this fall that I am in the woods and not at work. Bonus if they allow beards! Boy would that be great! Bottomline: From a 30k foot view the military may not seem like a good choice but if you look closer it can be great. Especially if a unit has great leadership that looks out for their people, that makes all the difference.

This was back in June. I also had another bear knock one of my cameras sideways in another area and I had to go out and fix it. Also my buddy sent me a video of mom and cubs so they are for sure here. *Note: Not 100% sure these are bear but they were bigger than my turds lol

I have had this bear walk by my camera 2-3x over the summer. The only bear hunting I’ve done is in PA with a large group of hunters. This picture is from 6K which according to the DEC maps is a low bear area. Do I have any business considering trying to target hunt him or should I just deer hunt as planned and if he happens to walk by then take the shot? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
