  1. Temperature and type of hunt dependent - ground level face paint or both - tree stand mask
  2. Every one would tag out if they had 100's of acres food plots and pattern the deer on their property via trail cams- I've gone years eating tag soup hunting public land - it's just the way it is- but a bad day hunting beats any day working or loafing

    Good Luck!

"Now then, please take your gear, your quiver and your bow, and go out to the field and hunt game for me" Genesis 27:3 The chase has begun today-Good luck this hunting season
  4. I'm picking up rage hypodermics this year to have an expandable in my kit- G5 fly true- it's been my experience that you will always have to broad head tune no mater what- it's (overly complicated) simple physics
  5. Northern Dutchess Archery! Awesome shop amazing staff- good people
  6. Shoot as many as you can in and around your price point- I would recommend bowtech assassin - What ever you pick google it for sale , eBay, amazon or AT- and here- you can probably get a really good rig with extras for less than you cap- which you will need to get it set up at a proshop My .02 Good luck

  8. unbelievably so, I was amazed at how fast that they came in.
  9. well tomorrow will be a last ditch effort unless i dont nab one then maybe before the 31st- lol- my second day out i gobbled in two toms- made my pick as they were beating the snot out of my jake decoy, and as i loosed my arrow, the tom i was aiming at, struck and bounced away and i missed by millimeters .. i watched my arrow barely miss and startle him. at that point ( i realized that using a natural blind) was not the best choice to use if i needed to re knock an arrow. the one continued attacking while my tom was trying to tell him theres a funny bush that may have just shot something at them.. the jake was down and the toms were off.. what a great hunt it was even with the miss. i must have laughed all morning the next time i was able to go the toms were pretty quiet. well see how it goes
  10. i like the concept, it makes sense, maybe on my next bow..
  11. how did the guillotine fly?? ive heard they can helicopter, and be a pain. ive always used fixed blade broad heads. this year i have switched over to G5 Montecs- they fly just like my field points and would like to see how they fare. this will be the first year with decoys (first spring hunt as wel) should be fun
  12. .....spring turkey.. whos going??? (Archery of course) whats your: tactics, gear, special equipment..
  13. welcome to the madness- go and shoot as many as you can, find one that feels best for you, and see if your pro shop has a used set up - look on ebay or in the classifieds as others have mentioned, read the online pdf, nuts and bolts of archery http://archeryhistory.com/archerytalk/The_Nuts&Bolts_of_Archery.pdf and shoot as much as you can, my girl friend and i shot all winter in our apartment ( we had a 14 yard stretch living room to bed room) springs here so you should be golden. good luck, newbee..
  14. Looking for a RH heartbreaker for my girlfriend.. Or something similar .. Must be camo she hates pink

changed over from Korean Express (sorry i had to) maxima hunter.. to Beman ICS hunter pros.. very happy. CX are a great arrow.. I just rather shoot my $ worth in the US
  16. so in dutchess county, can you hunt anywhere other than the multiple use areas??? i kid you not there were 4 young does bedded, or just chilling, in a field (private property) 30' off the road max. 2 min from my parking area. i cant tell you how tempting it was lol..
  17. @ guns.. spot and stalk out west is exactly how you described it. you can see for miles. the principles are the same as far as patterning them. food sources and watering holes are more pinpoint accurate. (deer can eat and drink wherever they want in NY) you can set up after noon ambushes. but typically bucks will bed down hill side, if you get a bead on them, thats when the hunt begins.. alot of fun, alot of work..
  18. thanks for the replies.. one of the bigger issues for me is, the public land i am hunting is relatively small <900 acres, with quite a few hunters in place.. i would feel like sh** trampling through someones stand sight.. a bonus for them if i push a deer their way .. I am going to try another area today. and next week im headed up north a couple hours. thanks again
  19. ive been hunting dutchess (2nd year), poughkeepsie side of the river..a lot of pressure in the area. should i head across the river and north? also are MUA's the only place you can hunt here?? im a western transplant used to open country spot and stalk. not a method easily adopted here. thanks gents, and happy Rut!
  20. Magnus stinger or Buzzcut..
  21. I have a G5 quiver and love it heard great things about tight spot so +1 on them
  22. the bow that feels best for you. I shoot a bowtech destroyer 350, and bowtech justice.. i like the new pse's as well.. but for me the bowtech gave me the most Ke.. aka speed 304 fps @ 25 inch draw, 70# draw weight, 357 grain arrow, 71#'s Ke..
  23. in further protest i bought a new sight, quiver and some limb savers...G5 xr2, g5 3 arrow quiver.. that'll teach em ...
