  1. That's why you need to eat beans and greens the night before so you can take care of business in the morning before you head out to your stand ;D
  2. My hunting grounds in Germantown
  3. Thanks for the welcome. Looking forward to reading and posting and i'm sure learning more about hunting in NY.
  4. I have a PSE Deerhunter - basic and simple starter bow. Ordered it online in 2009 at Yeoldearcheryshoppe.com for a great price ($249 i think) It came with a cheap drop away rest, quiver and large site. I brought it to my local archery shop and had them set it up for $50. Since then I've been fine tuning it myself and adding accessories i.e. Trueglo lighted site, NAP Apache drop away containment rest with CX arrows using FOB's rather than traditional fletchings. I swear by it. Shoots great and very accurate.
  5. Not a bad idea NYBuckboy but that wouldn't work for me since my stands are in trees facing open corn fields. I guess I could go out into the corn field and put up some markers on the corn stalks in front of my stand or put stakes in the ground with orange tape on the tips. I may just give that a try . . .
  6. I did read the regs before I bought it and i agree with Doewhacker, i believe the regs apply to an actual laser site that emits a laser beam. Also The regs do not say anything about being illegal to have a rangefinder mounted on your bow. But I will make sure its OK to use with DEC. Thanks
  7. Purchased the Leupold Vendetta (bow mounted) range finder in the spring. Alot easier to use when holding a bow at full draw. Well see how how well it works in the treestand this coming bow season.
  8. Hi All, I'm new to the forum but long time NY Hunter. Just renewed my hunting license and didn't get my preference DMP so I figured I'd give bear a try this coming season. Wondering if anyone has seen or taken any black bear in Southern Columbia County over the last couple of years? I hunt on privately owned land about 100 acres with corn and somewhat dense hardwoods on the perimeter. Any advice for a newbie would be appreciated. Thanks.
