  1. This is only the second weekend up at the cabin this season due to work and family obligations. Cold, no wind about 6 inches of snow on ground lots of tracks in front of my stand. Lets hope they are hungry this morning. Should make for easy tracking on this fresh blanket of snow.
  2. So on Thursday this past week I stopped in at FS and was planning on buying the A300 in wood for $649. When I get there I was told the sale was over and the price went back up to $800 and boy was I disappointed. I left empty handed thinking now I would have to wait until black Friday. This morning I got an email circular and much to my delight the price dropped to $699 for camo and wood. Compared to the previous sale this was not too bad of a price. So I went back to FS this afternoon with the intent on buying the wood. It was very nice. As I was holding it the salesman told me they also have it in black synthetic and it was $100 cheaper. I asked to see the synthetic. After handling both the wood and synthetic for several minutes I pulled the trigger so to speak on the synthetic. The wood was beautiful walnut satin finish, but I was afraid that with my luck the first time I took it afield I would end up scratching the wood. After $20 off coupon and a 10% off coupon I gave it a new home for under $550. And here it is....I plan on taking it turkey hunting next weekend and also trap with my son. Can't wait to put some shells through it. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk

  4. I use a Mossberg pump which has done the job when hunting but looking to upgrade. Want to get into clays with my son too so I figured a semi would be easier to work with and my old bones. This is why I'm leaning toward the Barretta. Sent from my SM-T810 using Tapatalk
  5. I would rather get it in black synthetic. Hopefully they have it or I can order it in black. May be cheaper too. Sent from my SM-T810 using Tapatalk
  6. Well I got an email today from F & S advertising the A300 Outlander for $699. Oh my! Decisions.... decisions....
  7. Turkey and clays. Sent from my SM-T810 using Tapatalk
  8. Looking at the Stoeger (Benelli) for my first semi 12ga. FS has the satin Walnut finish on sale for $549. With coupons I can get it for under $475. Read 3 good reviews. Anyone have any experience with this semi? Thanks, DT Sent from my SM-T810 using Tapatalk
  9. Congrats Elmo. Enjoy! Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
  10. I bought a Chefmate at Field and Stream two weeks ago for $499. Sorry dinner has come and gone. The pork ribs fell off the bone but the venison ribs were a bit tough. Next time I need to wrap them in aluminum for the last 2 hours to keep them moist and tender. There's always next weekend..... Sent from my SM-T810 using Tapatalk
  11. So today is the first time I'm using my new smoker.... prepped two racks of pork ribs and what was left of some venison ribs and chops yesterday. I made my own rub mix and let sit 24 hours. Looking forward to tender ribs and chops this evening...... Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
  12. I have been looking to get into smoking after watching several episodes of Steve Rachlin Up In Smoke episodes so I did some research. I've looked at just getting an electric smoker and was leaning towards a Bradley smoker pro which was running about $300 to $350. So today I took a trip with my better half to F & S to look at the Bradley smoker which they had in stock. However, I stumbled upon the Traeger elite pro series grill and smoker which I have read got some great reviews. But the price tag was upwards of $800. Standing behind the Traeger was a Camp Chef Smoker Pro. Electric pellet fed. I quickly looked up the reviews on the Camp Chef. It got better reviews than the Traeger. After about 10 minutes of reading 4-5 star reviews I pulled the trigger and bought the Camp Chef for about $500. Just finished seasoning it. Looking forward to smoking and grilling some nice chunks of meat. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk

  14. Congrats! I too married my high school sweetheart and soulmate 25 years ago and going strong on 35 years together. Never went to any HS reunions as I was never really into HS other than my GF/wife now. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
  15. I have 6 scoped rifles and a few shotguns so I should be good for now. I don't plan on buying anything in the next year or so. But even if I do I should be good to go. Sent from my SM-T810 using Tapatalk
  16. Hey all, It's been a while since I've posted - life and work get in the way sometimes - so I thought I'd share my recent purchase of a gun safe. I've researched high and low and side to side in search of a gun safe that would serve my purposes. After months of looking about 2 weeks ago I stopped at the FS in Melville and they had their safes on sale, or so I thought. I was looking at the 24 gun but leaning toward the FS 16 gun as the 10 gun would have been way too small for my purposes. At that time the 16 gun was $449 on sale and the 24 gun was not on sale priced at $699. I was ready to pull the trigger so to speak on the 16 gun and was originally told that deliver would be $175. However, as I was about to order it at that time I found out that the deliver would have been $325. Which would have brought the total cost to $775 without tax. Ugh! I could not bring myself to pay almost half the cost for delivery at that time for a safe which would serve my purposes for now but would leave no room to grow down the road. The employees suggested getting a couple of buddies to help me pick it up to save on delivery but unfortunately, I didn't have anyone who would be able to help. So needless to say I passed at that time. Then this past Monday I stopped into FS to pick up some ammo and decided to walk over to look at the safes again. Well much to my delight, their prices dropped drastically even more. This time the 16 gun was down to $399 plus shipping which was not much of a move but the 24 gun was $449 plus shipping down from $699. Given that both safes weigh over 300lbs, the delivery cost would have been the same. After thinking about it for 2 minutes, I pulled the trigger on the 24 gun safe. For the same price as two weeks ago I got a much larger safe which of course I have no choice but to grow into... lol wink, wink, wink. It's getting delivered and set up tomorrow afternoon as the delivery cost includes in home set up. DT
  17. Congrats on a great bird! Sent from my SM-T810 using Tapatalk

  20. Back at it in the blind with my son in different location where we saw two big guys moving after we packed up yesterday. Cool morning no wind. Hear them yelping from roost some 200 yds away. Hopefully the ugly birds will take the same path as yesterday. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using Tapatalk
  21. Well about 30 mins ago 3 big Jakes about 10feet apart popped out from our right along the cut field and worked their way toward us. I told my son to get ready, and he picks up my 12ga and shoulders it. I call them in to about 40-45 yards but they kept moving yo our left. I call out to stop them, He takes aim, shoots .....and two fly off, the third which was closest jumps up and then casually walks away into the tree line in front of us. We get out of the blind and go to the spot where it was and we see feathers. We follow it into the woods up a hill with blow downs to see if it started to flop. Suddenly we see it fly off a tree and over into the other field. At that point we head back to the blind and grab our gear and head in for breakfast and a cup of Joe. So far Turkeys - 1 my son - 0. We still have tomorrow morning. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using Tapatalk
  22. At least he put on a show for you. Nothing moving in our neck of the woods. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using Tapatalk
