I bought one of those Scent Hot Pods for $3.99 and at the end of season bought another for $.99 . I have a bunch of ladder stands from DICKs as well as clothing , boots , guns , ammo , archery gear and numerous other things . I will continue to shop at the Webster , Victor , and Henrietta DICKs stores . I also make use of their REWARDS Program . No need to drive to Buffalo to Cabelas or Waterloo for Bass Pro when I have 3 of the DICKs stores in the back yard !

Tom Tobin Staff writer Field & Stream, a specialty outdoors store owned by Dick’s Sporting Goods, will anchor a redesigned southwest wing at Henrietta’s Marketplace Mall that will include new stores and restaurants to be identified by the end of January, mall general manager Mike Wilmot said Wednesday. The 55,000-squarefoot Field & Stream outlet will be constructed behind Dick’s Sporting Goods after the former DSW and Furniture Fair building is torn down, according to a news release from Wilmorite Corp., which owns the mall. The store at Marketplace will be the first under the Field & Stream name in this area. One also has been proposed for Big Flats in Chemung County. The former Bon-Ton department store in that section of the mall has already been demolished, making room for the new wing. The two outdoors stores will anchor the new section that, in its approach, resembles one already carried out at Eastview Mall and The Mall at Greece Ridge, Wilmot said. At those shopping centers, upscale retail and chain restaurants created a new mall entrance point, with adjacent parking and outside entrances for the stores and restaurants. Wilmorite is in the midst of a plan to upgrade its malls, the largest in the Rochester region, with higher-end tenants. The Field & Stream store at Marketplace is meant to appeal to outdoors enthusiasts who want a greater selection of products than is now available at Dick’s. Field & Stream has an emphasis on outdoor equipment, accessories and hunting, fishing and archery products. It has some of the same retail approach as Bass Pro Shops, Orvis, Gander Mountain and Cabela’s. Some of the inventory currently at Dick’s may move to the new store, Wilmot said. “We’re very excited by this,” Wilmot said. “We think it will bring customers from all over.” “Field & Stream concluded that Henrietta was the ideal location for a super- regional destination,” Dennis Wilmot, senior vice president for Wilmorite, said in a statement. “The mall’s substantial trade area includes a notable population of passionate hunters, anglers and campers who will greatly appreciate having this store in the Finger Lakes region.’’ Dick’s, the nation’s largest outdoors store, in 2012 bought the Field & Stream trademarks in the hunting, fishing, camping, and paddle categories. The Field & Stream name is most closely associated with the 140year-old magazine, which is still being published. After buying the name rights, Dick’s opened several stores under that banner, two in Pennsylvania and one in Kentucky. “Dick’s Sporting Goods originally began as a bait and tackle shop,” said the sporting-goods store’s president and COO Joe Schmidt in a statement last year. “The Field & Stream store will build upon both brands’ heritage to provide an excellent customer experience for outdoor enthusiasts.”

I said good bye to Gander Mountain some time ago . They are too pricy . They have the guns and archery stuff together and lots of luck getting someone to wait on you !

There is a plastic webbing and double foam between the two sides . I guess it could be heavier duty though . Time will tell .

Interesting Topic , Doc . If I , personally , had the opportunity to shoot a bear , I think I would pass ( unless I was in danger ) . I doubt I would care to eat bear meat and to kill one for the sake of doing so just doesn't appeal to me . Others would probably eat the bear meat and do something with the hide , etc . I have heard of hunters soaking material in bacon grease and using it like scent wicks to draw the bear in close . Not sure if that would be legal though .

The picture in the ad is deceiving . You are looking straight down on the case . It was $29 in the store . http://www.walmart.com/ip/Plano-Pillared-Double-Gun-Case/19281745

I was in a WalMart yesterday and happened to see a 2 gun case manufactured by PLANO . I have a couple of their cases but this one caught my eye . It is double thickness and holds a rifled gun on each side . Each side has a total of 6 latches and has the foam protection on the inside . Only $29 . I bet that sucker will feel heavy with 2 guns in it !

Governor Announces Support for Crossbows in NY
fasteddie replied to Tinlodge's topic in CrossBow Hunting
And , I would think that hunting from a blind with a crossbow would be less of a challange than hunting from a tree stand with a compound . sent from my e-machine T3085 160GB
