  1. They have been poping up all over the place on my dads property. He ran into 5 while walking into his stand in our old apple orchard on saturday. I think they will be hit pretty hard over the net week and then will pretty much become abandoned once the chasing phase really kicks in
  2. Good looking rub, its probably a pretty decent deer due to the length from top to bottom. We had 3 new rubs open up over night in one area right by one of our stands thsi weekend. I saw a decent 8 point there the night before the rubs showed up. We had been seeing a lot of scrapes, but it is good to see the rubs.
  3. My dad had 2 doe and a doe and 2 fawns come out to feed in front of him on saturday morning. I bumped a 2.5 yr old 8 point in a partialy picked cornfield that night and my dad bumped a forkhorn on the way in on Sunday afternoon. I have seen a fair amount of daytime movement on my cams in the woods, but not as much out in the foodlplots. There are new rubs and scrapes everytime I go out. I seems like the bucks are still moving a lot at night. The first weekend of november was great last year, lets hope it is this year too.
  4. Look at the body on that dude! Looks like a cow with antlers. Sweet!
  5. I agree with you on the bucks moving at night. I bumped a 2.5 yr old on the way ot on saturday night. My dad hunted a stand right byt where I saw the deer and there were 3 new rubs where we had previously seen 3. So, they are definaitely getting the mood, just don't want to show their faces yet
  6. Take her out if you need the meat or are lacking other does. The fawn should be able to take care of itself at this time.
  7. That is one hell of a turnip, mine are smaller bc we put them in in August rather than July
  8. I said it was for a friend and not mine if you read the first post!
  9. It is NOT on my property! I was putting them up for a FRIEND! I would not do that he can do whatever the hell he wants to up there and deal with the consequences. I have standing corn, beans, brassicas, apple trees, clover and chicory on mty property so I don't need any help other than the deer walking in front of a well placed stand. I can remove the post if it offends people. Just asking what it will score.
  10. It's not on my property. Just pics sent from a friend.
  11. I was thinking that high beause of the insane mass and he has at least 13-14 scorable points, gross score obviously not net.
  12. My buddy has this freak running around on his property. I'm jealous, but I did get a good buck already. Any guess on score? I'm thinking over 170
  13. yes, i am going to mount him and put the picture from 09, 10, 11 and the harvest photo next to him. I only started bow hunting in 2006 and have passed a lot of young in the hopes of tagging a mature buck. He will have a nice place in my man cave (which be overtaken by a baby in December)
  14. Pretty good, UpStateRedNeck. I have shot a couple older bucks when I lived in Texas, but it is certainly the oldest deer I have killed in NY.
  15. Thanks guys, he may not have been 2.5 years old in 2009 since he had a decent sized body then. He came in behind me at 10 yards last year and I was not ready, it was tough to see him get away, but I was able to come out on top this year.
  16. I was able to score on a buck i was after since 2009. I have attached pics from 2009 and the harvest photo. I had a couple of trail cam pics from this guy coming in just before daylight this year and was hoping some cooler weather would make him stay a little longer. He came in around 6:40 and stopped to eat at a small food plot i planted inside the woods. I could not tell for sure it was him since it was cloudy and hoped he would not leave. Finally, around 7 I was able to see that he was the buck I had been after. He started to walk out of where I had a shot so I pulled back, stopped him and let the G5 striker do its work. He ran 30 yards, stopped and then proceeded to do the death dance. Perfect double lung hit. While he make not have the biggest rack, he is 4.5 yrs old and makes me very happy. He also dressed out at 195.
  17. Thanks for responses boys. Glad I'm not the only one. Glad one of the cameras did get a pick of the buck because he walked in front of me at 16 yards on Sunday and I let him have it. I will post picks tonight.
  18. I have several cameras and have had Moultrie D55 since last year, it appears to work pretty well, but its seems there should always be more pics on it than I get. So, I put out a Primos Truth 35 (which has a great trigger speed) in the same spot as the D55. I was able to get 142 pics on the Primos, only taking 1 shot at a time, and 120 or so pics from the D55 taking 2 pics at a time. The biggest kicker was that the Primos caught a 4.5 yr old 8 point I'm after at 6 am and the D55 missed him completely, it caught the smaller 9 point though. The deer was positioned in front of both cameras for a few minutes. if I had not had the Primos out there I would be hunting some where else on Saturday morning. I have been very happy with the primos ( i have 3 others) and am now a little leary about the Moultrie. Anybody else ever try this?
  19. Not going to try for him in early November with a bow? That is some of the best time to be in the woods, the first weekend was pretty great last year.
  20. What town in Madison COunty was it shot in? I hunt just east of Chittenango.
  21. it's a toss up for me. I have shot deer at both times. I think I see more deer in the evening, but have seen a lot of the bigger older bucks in the am. My am stands are typically farther back in the woods to catch deer going back to bed. Although, i agree with others about being able to track in then morning
  22. I shot a big ole doe on opening day in the SZ. She cam in by herself around 7:50. Put a rage in the cage and she went 25 yards. I was very impressed with the damage. There was no pass through because the arrow hitr the opposite shoulder, still a ton of blood. I willtry and post a pick tonight.
  23. nice, i shot a nice old doe with a 2 blade at 7:50 on sat morning. She went 25 yards.
