I've got one and totally agree with you on the lead sled. Also ear muffs reducing that blast seems to help, if you know what I mean. lol

Totally agree with you on the 12 ga. After 5 - 10 rounds of the 12 ga sabots, shooting the 30-06 seems like nothing. Lots of good choices been said, 260, 270, 7MM-08, 308 and even the 30-06. Like I said above, after shooting the 12 ga, I could shoot the 30-06 all day! But for your reloading I guess it's what's most available for your components. For factory loads, you always see the 270, 308, 30-06 on sale. Agree on the bolt action, much easier to clean also.

That's right bkin. If convicted of a felony, no more firearms.

I'm still thinking shotgun only counties you have to wait for ALL deer seasons to be over to be afield with a centerfire rifle. WNYDeerHunter, after re-reading your #4 post, yes I agree. Okay.......I'm done! LOL

I'm still scratching my head over this one. So it's reg deer season, in a rifle county, and all my deer tags are filled, I can be afield with a center-fire rifle? and the ECO stops you and you say I'm hunting fur-bearers? Just doesn't sound right.
-
LOL, oh man WNYBuckHunter, after re-reading the regs, for about 10 times I guess your right. Seems like you need to be a lawyer figuring out some of these regs. Thanks for the correction.

You may hunt furbearers with a rifle chambered in any cartridge, except that during any open season for deer - including archery, muzzleloading and regular seasons - you may not possess a centerfire rifle afield, during the day or night, to hunt wildlife, including furbearers in any county or portion of a county where deer hunting with rifles is prohibited during the regular deer season. So to answer your question, no, you have to wait for all deer seasons to close.

Crows are considered a migratory bird. Only a certain amount of days are allowed to hunt migratory birds. To extend the season, they allow 4 days per week to hunt crows. Please chime in anyone if I've missed something here.

This is the guy I use. Very happy with them. Marsh Mill Ranch

It is unlawful to: Take big game while the deer or bear is in water. Possess a firearm of any description when bowhunting or when accompanying a person bowhunting during special archery seasons. Make, set or use a salt lick on land inhabited by deer or bear.

To get you started I would get the Remington Rifled Slugs, inexpensive, and everyone carries them. You need to practice to see how they shoot out your gun. But your 870 with modified chock you should be fine. This is the same set-up I started with when I was sixteen. (I'm 59) Again for starters, Remington Express Shotshells, I like size 5 shot, use it for both turkey and rabbits. The heavy shot passes right through a rabbit, smaller shot sometimes stays stuck in the meat, and #5's is heavy enough for head shots on turkey. This gets you started. Good luck!!

I need to ask, what is MTA fee's? -
Just my .02 cents, but I wouldn't put up anything that could hurt or kill someone. Not worth it. Good luck.

It has that black tip, and it looks like a black strip down the tail, which tells me it's a grey fox.

Thanks for the reply defrazzle. I haven't reloaded in over 30 years. I've got a Mec 600jr. 12ga. when I was 17 yrs old, I'm 59 now. Me and my buddy use to load shoe boxes full. We'd buy a couple cases of clay pigeons and a hand thrower and have a blast! I used Red Dot for target loads. I see you using Blue Dot, and I remember that being used for hunting loads, that's why I asked. Well good luck with your load, happy hunting!
-
I'm interested in what you changed. Was it the hulls? Also what do you use that loading for?

I don't know, but the DEC has a Statewide burn ban till May 15.

Most traditional recipes calls for marinating a roast for days. This recipe uses stew meat is quick and easy and we love it. 3 lbs. stew meat 2-3 medium onions diced 1 1/2 cups catsup 1 1/2 cups cider vinegar 2/3 cup of sugar 2 cups water 2 tsp. Allspice 2 tsp. Ground Cloves Crushed Ginger Snaps 10-15 Brown meat and onions. Mix other ingredients (except Ginger snaps) and add to meat. Simmer for about 2 hours. Add crushed Ginger Snaps to thicken to desired thickness. Serve over noodles. Since it's just my wife and I now, I usually cut this recipe in half when I make it. Taste even better warmed up the next day.
