Climber question????
Culvercreek hunt club replied to Culvercreek hunt club's topic in General Hunting
I don't think is is unsafe....I am harnessed in.....I lower the seat and swing it out stepping over the rail.....the step out onto the climbing sticks that go up 6' above the standing platform. No differtent than getting in a lock on BUT I have a rail around me while in it -
Climber question????
Culvercreek hunt club replied to Culvercreek hunt club's topic in General Hunting
I would love to see it too Steve. I would almost bet lock-ons are up there in numbers too. I ahve done it......I know "I only hae enough steps to get this high....well let me ust this branch instead...or let me hug the tree to get into the stand." If I had to rank in terms of where i would bet the numpbers would come in... least amount of accidents to most ladderstands lock ons home made climbers. -
Climber question????

If you are ok on climbing sticks they work great strapped in a fixed position. -
They are serious about this. Just got a call from a friend that uses the Henrietta Store and they had $1,500 in cash withdrawls made on their card in California. Withdrawls were over the last few days. Keep you eyes out. I have canceled our cards.

Deer Hunting Reduces Car Accidents
Culvercreek hunt club replied to wztirem's topic in General Hunting
"The truth is that conventional deer hunting, also known as trophy hunting, doesn't lower the total deer population." Cnventional hunting is Trophy hunting????? WOW that is news to me. -
This is why we never get one up on the ladies----They are too shrewd!! The doctor, after an examination, sighed and said, "I've got some bad news. You have cancer, and you'd best put your affairs in order." The woman was shocked, but managed to compose herself and walk into the waiting room where her daughter had been waiting. "Well, daughter, we women celebrate when things are good, and we celebrate when things don't go so well. In this case, things aren't well. I have cancer. So, let's head to the club and have a martini." After 3 or 4 martinis, the two were feeling a little less somber. There were some laughs and more martinis. They were eventually approached by some of the woman's old friends, who were curious as to what the two were celebrating. The woman told her friends they were drinking to her impending end, "I've been diagnosed with AIDS." The friends were aghast, gave the woman their condolences and beat a hasty retreat. After the friends left, the woman's daughter leaned over and whispered, "Momma, I thought you said you were dying of cancer, and you just told your friends you were dying of AIDS! Why did you do that?" "Because I don't want any of those bitches sleeping with your father after I'm gone." And THAT, my friends, is what is called, 'Putting Your Affairs In Order.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY... Women are like phones: They like to be held, talked to, and touched often. But push the wrong button and your disconnected.

I personally know a guy who hunts for them down around Tully. They go out after deer season when there is snow on the ground. Much easier to track and find sign. I would be willing to bet that once you found the area the farmers would be willing to give permission because the damage these things do is crazy.

I have one that I picked up used and NEVER like a climber since I took a slip when my buddie was showing me how to use one way back when. I use it as a fixed stand and I put a ratchet strap on the platform around the tree and suck it up tight. That thing is like a rock and only takes a minute to do. Do any of you guys that actually climb with these things strap them to a tree once you get up there?

OK....Mad a decission this morning......No more scouting with trail cams. This is the first year I reallly put a lot of effort into it and they made waiting for the opener unbearable!!!. I feel like a 5 year old waiting for Christmas.....IT IS NEVER GONNA GET HERE!!!

I know where all those places are. i gre up in Mohawh valley and have been up a down the Thruway my whole life. You may really wan tot consider the Canadice, Helmock lake area. Was county property but now owned by the State. You can hunt it but like many other areas ...pressure near the easy access pushes deer deep there and if you don't mind the steep terrain......I have seen lots of great quality bucks taken down there.

Bleitten----where are you and where are you interested in hunting? There are pikes of State land someone might be able to make a few suggestions if you narrow it down a bit
