T/C Encore Rifle/Pistol permit
Culvercreek hunt club replied to Landowner's topic in General Hunting
I'll bet money they list the same number multiple times with different calibers -
So the trophy hunting isn't in the best interest of herd health?...hmmmmmm....go figure

T/C Encore Rifle/Pistol permit
Culvercreek hunt club replied to Landowner's topic in General Hunting
When I asked I told them it was a muzzleloader and they...sheriff...said every barrel had to be registered as if it were a seperate pistol. They said nothing about the frame. I guess I assumed the pistol barrels carried numbers since you can't buy one without a pwrmit -
T/C Encore Rifle/Pistol permit

Every pistol barrel you purchase for the encore must be placed on the permit. I already checked because I have an Encore and just filed my permit. -
That made me laugh out loud...

2 pounds of finely cubed and trimmed Venison Stew meat. (might work with ground too) 3 cups of sliced mushrooms 1 large onion diced 1 can of ceream of Mushroom soup 1 packet of onion soup mix 1 12 oz can of diet citrus soda (7-UP or Sprite type) 8 oz Sour cream (not the low fat crap) 1 12 oz bag od egg noodles Place the venison in the crock pot. Placed diced onion in the pot Combine packet of Onion soup mix with the soda and cream of mushroom soup mix. Mix well and pour over the venison.stir and mix well. Palce on High for 1 hour Add the Mushrooms, reduce to low and continue cooking for 6-7 hours. (I like the venison to fall right apart. Before serving- remove half the liquid and discard Stir in the sour cream thouroughly. Cook egg noodles per package directions Serve venison spooned over egg noodles (I have had it over rice as well) As left overs I mix the left over venison with the egg noodles and mix it up. It heats up well and I think even is better the second day. If you are taking to hunting camp do all the preparation and cooking at home but do not add the sour cream. Stir it in once you have reheated the venison mixture.

I agree...that was the problem I eluded to with the free college rant...we have bent over backwards to "even" folks up with us...we gave our advantages away for a pot a knife and a box full of glass beads.

good point on the drying out. I always use my small game in some form of crockpot recipe so I would never notice drying out there...psssst..... i am going to post a recipe I did this past weekend for a venison stroganoff kind of dish...it was freaking amazing and so easy. I tried it at home before trying it at camp...the girls had no idea it was venison

I have never done the salt water thing on Deer. I have on squirrels and rabbit though and it does remove any clotting. I never notice a salty taste to them. Might work on deer if the taste bothers you. I almost always find that folks that don't like the taste cances are the meat wasn't handled properly and the ones that think it is tough....eat their beef well done. If you cook venison well done...might as well save you effort and give it to me...lol

I did. not a bad article. Curious why the head up on the Doe? Deer always skin better for me head down. Then the loins and front shoulders come off...no reriggin required

I agree...anyone wants a humbling experience.....take you favorite deer rifle out chuck hunting. my longest was 425 but that was after 3 misses....bipod...prone...slight breeze and just weeks before I had it on a range and shot at 350. Chucks are nice because if you miss...have some coffee and relax...they will pop up again . I ca'nt convince the deer I hunt to do the same thing -
I think to siimplify it.....if it has to do with their nose you are ok...if there mouth is involved...NFG

LOL...Steve. I know. I love both rounds and both are easy to find with a large selection of factory ammo. You alway here folks toos around a magic number of 1300 ft. pounds for deer killing energy...150 grains .270 holds that and more at 400 yards.....400 yards ...are you kidding me...lol In my field stands I can't see 400 yards. ;) -

Great choice Stretch.....I don't know how you define reach...but they are the same round...smae charge.....270 is just a necked down 30-06. ballistically it has a longer reach....depending on how you define it -
ILLEGAL----because you are inticing them to eat something
-
that is acceptable because base on the DEC view, it is not a food/mineral and is not getting the deer to feed on something that they would not normally do. Example...apple scent spray is acceptable. deer cocaine ,,,a mineral, poured on teh ground or stump would intice them to feed on the dirt and stump. question and answer section on this years reg's

Enjoy your weekend Cabin, and good luck. Hearing your story about the camp again, makes me really focused on enjoying this season with my Father while he is still here. Thank you

Doc, I know this is going to sound cold and callous but here goes. We do it to ourselves. While we may not be able to compete in some industries we have others that are leading edge in the world. The problem we have is, as a country we feel this need to damn near give our stuff away to those outside our boarders. Some warped sense of equal opportunity to the world masses. For instance, our Colleges and Universities. We have most of the best institutions in the world yet we give freebees to any foreigners that want to attend. Student visa….give me a freaking break. It is our resource and if anything should be at a discounted rate it should be to OUR children not someone from outside our boarders. It is our commodity PAY for it! Russia has a drought…too freaking bad….you pay market prices. Mexico has a problem…pay You get hit by a Tidal wave in India…our resources to assist in reconstruction…pay Anchor babies---no more. If you are illegal and need health care…go home. The cost of our CHARITY is staggering and from what I see is always accepted but seldom appreciated. We also have to get our affairs in order. Entitlements in our country are nuts. Bail out??? Are you kidding me. What happened to the free market…if you can’t run you business and keep it profitable it goes under. If there is truly a market need for your service someone will find a way to provide that service for a price that the market will bare. The GM debacle made me want to puke. I am not going to get on the buy American kick either….Anyone know which pickup has the Highest AMERICAN made content????? Well if you guessed Toyota Tundra…you are right….Ford is Second and Nissan has higher American made content that GM or Dodge. Want to talk about an entitlement that artificially inflates costs and, in my opinion, has contributed to our inability to compete. Unions. They had their place, but not now. I was in one….didn’t work out for me. I got in trouble with them because my production was too high….yup you heard it right….”slow down, you won’t make it in this business….you are making others look bad” . Now this is a generalization but one that is backed up by personal observation. Most American workers’ work ethic sucks. Before you guys come down on me ask yourselves……Do I know anyone I work/worked with that never gave a full days work for the full days wages they got” I bet we all know quite a few. How about the guy on workers comp that hurt his back so he couldn’t work but brought the paperwork into me on his HARLEY….and pushed it around just fine on the stone parking lot as he was leaving. One of my responsibilities is recruiting. I have been to Technical Trade High Schools trying to get kids into the trades. Formal apprentice programs. Kids (18) offer them a job starting at 16 and hour and raises every 6 months. At the end of the 4 year apprenticeship they are making 32 and are a licensed journeyman. We pay for school and books that they attend 2 nights a week (during school year). The ones that start think the work is too hard and most aren’t even interested in the program. That cold, unfeeling part of me thinks they should go hungry and a career opportunity like that might appeal to them then. I guess my point is, as a whole, our country is soft. I certainly hope we make it out of this with out hitting the bottom that some are predicting. I think it is going to take a shift in attitude on everyone’s part to pull it off though. Everyone needs to take responsibility for their own future…work for it…be proud of it. Ok I am officially off my soap box and done rambling….We can start to worry about all this on Monday. For now over the weekend let’s focus on something we can control right now…..enjoying a sport we love. Good luck to everyone…..I want to see lots of pics come Monday.

WNY...that is always my first consideration when looking at a new gun. Since I don't reload yet I know the guns I have I can walk into any shop in the country and pick up a box...maybe not the exact ones I shoot but no hunt will be ruined because luggage was lost or I forgot to pack something -
With an infinite replay option...lol

The one with the claws...sharp teeth and nasty disposition....wait....that didn't narrow it down at all...did it
