agreed. But based on how many layers you just said you put on, you probabaly spend more money in clothes than they cost...lol. They are probably based on the under armor brand. I have used those before and they work really well! I would pay it if it works as well as they say it does. The difference between sitting in your stand an extra couple hours vs. packing it in with numb toes and borderline hypothermia...lol..... -
It really tastes the same. I'm not a huge fan of venison. Elk on the other hand....DAMN, I could live on that!

No, all self done. We camp around 10,000 feet and hike in about 3-4 miles each day to a very remote area with some good deer (as you can see). My brother-in-law is a deer head so he scouts the crap out of the mountains. It is like a guided hunt, but free! lol.

Nice Mulie as well. My brother-in-law lives in Southern Utah and he got me hooked. I can draw a tag every other year or so. We swap years. I hunt with him odd years and he comes here and white tail hunts with me even years. Good arrangment! We have been putting in points to go over to Wyoming as well in the future.

I drew a tag for a muzzloader Mule Deer hunt in Utah. I leave in 2 weeks (this is my 4th time headed out there). I have attached a few pics of some bucks my brother-in-law and myself have taken out of the area we hunt. It is one tough ass hunt, but we have a ton of fun. Super excited!! The first pic is the 195" giant my brother-in-law shot 2 years ago. They other 2 are about 160-170" class.

Thank you! That was the most actual information I have heard about it. Yes, we are referring to the same unSafe Act. In my last comment, I wasn't neccessarily referring to the unSafe Act when I was talking about the 4 bullets for legislation. I was referring to ALL legislation. Its nice that this one is shorter and concise, but that is 1 in a 1,000,000.

The answer is no. And part of my problem with our political system as it stands. Name any piece of legislation and I will tell you the 50 other things that get thrown into the bill to get passed. Look at Obamacare (not to get on that subject, trust me), but while trying to create socialized national healthcare, they have earmarks for new roads? education? alternative fuel funding?? WTF!!! If I could change ANYTHING about our system, it would be the following: New legislation must be: 1) less than 10 pages 2) contain ONLY 1 subject matter 3) In laymans terms (not in legal speak to make it confusing for the general public) 4) Be listed on a public site for a minimum of 30 days prior to congress being able to even consider voting This would eliminate so much BS. so, no, I have not read the Safe Act, because contained in it is a thousand pages of lawyer BS just so people won't read it. Which is also why, when I pose this question, so far nobody else seems to really know the guts of it either. Quite scary!

thats cool you got a pictue of him!
-
Thats what I am tryign to get to the bottom of. I have asked a whole lot of people and nobody seems to know what the center piece of the legislation is. I am surprised the lack of knowlege about this. I for one, who obviously oposes it, would like to know a lot more about it so I can educate people I know.

That happened on the property Ihunt. Guy was turkey hunting, calling sitting up against a tree. Meanwhile another guy (tresspassing mind you) stalked him thinking he was a turkey. Saw a bit of movement behind a tree and lit the guy up. He had to be merci flighted to the hostpital. Got pelts up his entire right side of his body, arm, neck and head. Some people are just plain stupid!

public record by request. Now it is PUBLISHED public record. You can pull up a fricken map and know everyone and everythign they have.
-
while I agree with everything you said, here is the problem I am running into.... it does NOT have anythign to do with restricting guns. That seems to be the common answer I have hear people argue. Having it a matter of public record that someone owns a gun doesn't make it harder to own a gun! And, since the murders and mass shooting are done usually by criminals and unregistred guns, that argument wouldn't even hold up. The idiot politians can say, "well, we made everyone public who owns a handgun legally, but this was done by a criminal and an unregistred weapon, so we have no idea." That would just make the case for OUR side of the argument against it this stupid Act. I don't get it.

based on these answers, it is safe to assume that, like me, noboby else has any answers to my question. I have yet to find a single person who can explain it.
-
There HAS to be something behind it or it wouldn't have gotten passed. There must be something somewhere that has an ounce of some rational thought. I just don't understand. Just publishing gun owners would be even a waste of liberal's time. it doesn't serve them any purpose.
-
Yeah, my bad. I have been part of that debate before...lol. Disregard my idiot comments people! Don't ruin the thread.
-
thats what I was expecting! I was a bit floored to see all 3 bucks hard horned.
-
Amen! that used to be me before this year. Hell, even on my lunch breaks I would run home, change and jump out in the woods for something. If nothing else, it is my Xanax...lol.
-
lmao.....yeah.....no comment needed
-
lol... nothing more than probably most people experience. 2 young kids, job, wife, events, etc. It just worked out this year that July and August SUCKED! lol. Oh the sacrifices we make as we get older!
-
That's the school of thought that was given to me that I live by. I check them all the time, even after shooting targets. It sounds like some people have had issues with them blowing up during the process of shooting though, which then got me overthinking that maybe I need to retire my arrows every time I shoot something....

fun topic thread btw. Nice to see other poeple's bucks in NY. Sad part is, even though there is great habitat here in some areas and plenty of room, we don't get the monsters you get in the midwest. I'm not sure why that is. I would ASSUME most of it has to do with the fact that there is limitless permits given out and people just slaughter the deer every year. I know people in my camp shoot young deer ever year and I yell at them!

2010 with my Muzzleloader. Gross scored 136" approximately (9 point). Nets are for fishing and don't figure them...lol

For the first time in my life, I have been too busy to get out and scout. It really sucks! I never got my cameras up. I haven't sat in the woods once with my video camera. I don't have my stand set up for bow season. Having adult responsibilities suck! lol. On Saturday, August 31st I got to sneak away for my first and last time before bow season and sit in my hunting area for 45 minutes. it was a small window, but I grabbed it. As luck would have it, I had 3 bucks come by (and 2 dandy's). All 3 were hard horned already! It seems early to me. But, not being able to do any scouting this year, they could have literally just shed their velvet that day for all I know (but looked like it could have been several days already). Has anyone else noticed a trend this year? It seems to me to be about 2 weeks early. Maybe even 3. Wondering if it is weather related. This has been one of the wettest summers we have ever had in my area and huge variations in temperature. Just wondering if it has had an effect on the deer, or it is just a total lack of me being out there this year. Thoughts?
