So after kicking the can and going over calibers and grain weights and ballistics...I'm going with a 6.5x55 Swedish. It beat out the 257 Roberts because mostly ammo availability, the 250-3000 because we already have them, 260 Remington was very close but I didn't like teh rifles all that much. In my search I came across a real oddity. 7.7 Arisaka full rifle made into a Mannlicher stock. Looks like a freakin Kentucky rifle and must weigh a ton!!!! Now to find the gun to wrap around it. The CZ 550FS is what my eyes want but, I have to keep looking.

The saga continues. Yesterday the left over sandwiches, chicken and tuna salad, laid on a desk for 5 hours. They put them in the fridge and ate them today. I started a puke pool to see who gets sick first. Skels mongoed all the Harry & David but I found the oatmeal raisin and choco chip cookies today. The peanut crate is down pretty low. Some real high end doofus sent a mixed case of TastyCake. Like the stuff on the racks in the gas stations. Waistline caught a break today

Canot wait (weight) for this to end. The food in work is just nuts. Monday was 20 pizzas, meatballs, ziti, sausage & peppers and a smoked turkey plus all the cookies and candy. Today was sandwiches and then another delivery of sandwiches. I found a box with about 20lbs of peanuts. They are hanging onto the fruit, I want some Harry & david pears but they won't open them.

We have does like horses in 3A since they haven't issued a doe permit in like 4 years

Dave I have been working on a plan for one and what you describe and how to get it up is exactly what I had figured on. I have to check on those brackets and thanks for the HD lumber idea. I have Lowes and HD within a stone's throw from me. Instead of straps I was going to use chain and damn if I can think of the name, those cable tightening thingys. Old-timers disease must be setting in.

No, less than an 06, more than the 250-3000 and 257 Roberts or a 243 for that matter

That's an excellent choice. I figured you were thinking of the other guys. Based on a 30-06 case, the recoil is fairly good, better than the 06 itself. The short cased 250's get similar ballistics without the wallop. That's about the only difference

My brother shot a deer a few years ago and had one of our friends oick it up from teh butcher. He wasn't answering his phone and when my brother finally got him the meat had been in his garage for three days. What stench, that was a waste.

That's impressive Doc. I'm using tree-maker to build a book myself. I want to get my relatives to join in and take up some of the load but they are content to watch and read

The banter on here is light-weight compared to the fishing sites. They only get parked or banned after they start meeting behind the handball courts after last period.

Last I heard from my club in the AR section...nada. A couple of them will be muzzleloading so there is always hope.
