Which side of the fence are you on?
Mr VJP replied to Deerthug's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
All comedy is funny when it has a ring of truth. Generalization is more true than false. You can always find exceptions, even if you have to dig deep to find the 1% that wouldn't apply. -

Never say never. If you change the monikers to Conservatives and Liberals, the sayings would be almost universally true. -

For those who think this has corrected the problem there, the law is STILL on the books. The corrupt legislature did it's job, a few scapegoats are going down, but the rights of the citizens have still been diminished. There is little to cheer about here. -

Maybe you should have addressed some of the questions in that post rather than just picking out that one point. Just and FYI, this is where the sheepdog attitude comes from: http://mwkworks.com/onsheepwolvesandsheepdogs.html -
Re: The Left Columnist Jonah Goldberg: "Social liberalism is the foremost, predominant, and in many instances sole impulse for zealous regulation in this country, particularly in big cities. ... Seriously, who else do people think are behind efforts to ban big sodas or sue hairdressers for charging women more than men? Who harasses little kids for making toy guns out of sticks, Pop Tarts, or their own fingers? Who wants to regulate the air you breathe, the food you eat, and the beverages you drink? Who wants to control your thermostat? Take your guns? ... Who's in favor of speech codes on campuses and 'hate crime' laws everywhere? Who's in favor of free speech when it comes to taxpayer-subsidized 'art' and pornography (so long as you use a condom, if liberals get their way) but then bang their spoons on their high chairs for strict regulations when it comes to political speech? ... At the national level, who bypassed Congress to empower the EPA to regulate the atmosphere? Oh, and who pushed Obamacare on a country that didn't want it?"

Doc, as an ex military man, LEO, EMT and Firefighter, I find your last post quite funny. You don't know anything about me, and I don't want to know much about you. I'll never list how many lives I've saved, or how many people I've helped. That's between me and them and I'm not looking for your approval. Someday, somebody like me may pull your dumb ass from a perilous situation, or blow air into your lungs for you, so you don't die, and you can then thank God people like me are out there. It's like most everything else you post. You doubt everything and anything anybody tells you until it bites you in the ass. -

Think about this. How many FELONIES do we now have on the books that didn't exist as crimes in 1960? Why do some things that were completely legal in 1960 now get you arrested for a felony? Why do people support laws that make things that were fine back then, felonies today? Why are people, who are fine upstanding citizens their whole lives, now being threatened with a felony arrest for mere POSSESSION of an object that MAY be used to commit a crime? How can any logical person defend supporting that law and agreeing to abide by it? How long before criminal THOUGHTS will be a FELONY? Don't want to be arrested for a felony? DON'T ALLOW THE LAW TO UNCONSTITUTIONALLY MAKE YOUR HOBBY A FELONY! DEMAND THE LAW PROSECUTE PEOPLE WHO COMMIT CRIMES THAT HARM PEOPLE, NOT PROSECUTE PEOPLE THAT COMMIT NO CRIME OTHER THAN WHAT A GOVERNMENT AGENDA SAYS IS NOW A FELONY! When did we allow the government to make felonies out of things we have been doing for decades without a problem? Why do we allow the government to attack all gun owners because a couple of people went nuts with their guns? Because we are a nation of sheep. But, some of us assume the role of the sheep dog, defending the sheep against the wolves. Unfortunately the sheep can't tell the difference between a sheep dog and a wolf. So, they hate us both and want us both defanged and eliminated. Problem is only the sheep dog will comply and the sheep will be the victims in the end. You want to talk about an agenda? Let's talk about the government's agenda to disarm all American citizens and why they want to do that! -

Oh, I read your posts Doc, but I don't think you realize what will happen when you follow that advice. We were a society of laws and legal activities and that principle is one of the foundational underpinnings of this country and always had been so, up until the system became stacked against the people and used to force socialism, control and subservience on the country. -
Heck, it's the law. You gotta comply.
Mr VJP replied to Mr VJP's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Complete non-violent resistance en-mass by all who are effected by these unconstitutional laws. That is, of course, until THEY start arresting, incarcerating and shooting, which I firmly believe they will. -

Doc, it's not open revolt, it's resistance. Ever wonder why they call it the LEGAL system and not the JUSTICE system? It's because it's all legal, but doesn't concern itself with justice. The difference between us is.....you have faith in legal system routes. I don't. Therefore, I believe we need to move past that. Many states have already passed nullification laws to block enforcement of unconstitutional federal laws. That's a good start. Unfortunately, we have to find a way to block unconstitutional state laws, and the NY legal system isn't going to be on our side. Neither is the Federal system. That's why these laws are cropping up on the state level now, where they used to be forced upon us by the Fed. It's much harder to fight state laws that abuse rights than it is to fight Federal abuse. For one thing, there are fewer people who are fighting it at the SCOTUS level. Secondly, there is the issue of State's Rights. American Rights are under attack by our own government. The very people who have sworn to defend them. You want to go to them with your hat in hand and beg them to reverse themselves. I think that idea is foolish and will prove to be a huge mistake. We need more leverage and we need to demand it now! -

Don't confuse distrust of government with trashing the country. Most people love this country, but can see the government wants to grow large and take control of us. All of our freedom is declining every day. The courts have become a system to delay any ability to revoke government abuse. The money involved in going to court to fight government abuse is obscene, especially when the government also increases our costs by spending our tax dollars to fight us! And the time it takes to get justice is measured in years, far too long to stop the death spiral. The government simply overwhelms the judicial system with more abuses than the people can possibly file suit against. This is why many compare what is happening in the US to what happened in Germany in the 30's. Don't write off clear observation and foresight as dramatic flair. The similarities are quite clear to anyone with an open mind. The German government corrupted the laws of the land and destroyed the freedom of the citizens little by little over time. It was all about power and control, as it is in the US today. Nobody is suggesting starting a whole new government from scratch. What is being suggested is going back to the Constitutional principles this country was founded on. We are also saying if the government refuses to comply with the law of the land, we are duty bound to reject their abuse, and unless they think we will, they will not comply. Power only understands power, and the people need to show they still have it, in the face of government abuse of power. You need to ask yourself who set up the system of redress we have available to us, and if that system has been corrupted with too many obstacles to effectively work for the people of this country anymore. I believe it has. I also believe our vote has become a joke. If we cannot remove corrupt, unconstitutional government officials from power with votes or impeachment, and the legal system refuses to overturn their unconstitutional legislation, what do you suggest we do? Keep playing their game while they continue to trample our rights everyday? No need to reply, Doc. I already know your answer. You've made it perfectly clear throughout this thread. -
If they pass a law that is just anti-gun and designed to make criminals out of as many gun owners as possible, with the goal of turning you into a felon so they can take all of your guns, do you applaud the police for enforcing it? http://washingtonexaminer.com/warning-d.c.-cops-under-orders-to-arrest-tourists-with-empty-bullet-casings/article/2535216

Well, no matter. I intend to retire from this job within the year and move out of the state to another state where gun owners are actually liked. Much like many NY gun manufacturers are doing. Think they have any hope for change in the NY courts? I know many of you plan to stay, but you will soon find out that was a mistake for a gun owner. I know what your legislators are planning for you and can assure you, you will not like it, and they do not like you. Play the legal game in the courts if you like, but you're just giving more time to the legislative branch in the state to encroach even more. By the time NY gun owners get this crap before the SCOTUS, if they EVER do, many of you will be completely disarmed of anything but double barreled shotguns, or will be in jail. If you want to play their game, Good Luck with that. I'll keep an eye on NY just to see how it works out for you, but I won't consider coming to the aid of NY gun owners in the future. You get the type of government you deserve. -

Obama chooses which laws he wants to enforce. Cops have discretion when it comes to enforcement too. You don't have to be a constitutional scholar to know when a law is clearly a violation of the law of the land. I guess when they pass a law saying cops should shoot anyone they see in possession of a firearm, you want me to do that without question too.
