Shipping ammo?
Mr VJP replied to MrGroundhog's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Right now, there is a huge black market ammo running system being set up in NY state because of this law. People are buying large quantities of ammo in other states and bringing them to NY to sell to shooters under the radar. The sellers are making a respectable profit doing it and the buyers stay off the state's intrusive check system, that is being loaded into a database of gun owners in NY. That database will eventually be used for confiscation, taxation, or both. This law is creating more lawbreakers and more non-compliance than any other gun law ever forced upon law abiding citizens in the entire history of NY State. Can you say, "Unconstitutional"? Sure, but what NY elected official cares about that? -
The whole purpose of universal background checks is to create a database of gun ownership. Any gun currently owned, that was not registered and never had a NICS check done on it, is unknown to the authorities. This law was written mainly to enable the state to create a database of gun owners in NY. The 2nd purpose of the law is to snag any seller who doesn't use an FFL for the transfer. That is now a felony, and when convicted, ALL of your guns will be taken. There never was any intention of a 3rd purpose, which would be to stop crime, since none of these provisions can. People need to see through the smoke and mirrors and realize gun owners have been officially designated as criminals in NY state. They are writing more laws, with more restrictions on gun sales and ownership, as I write this, none of which are designed to affect criminals at all, since they don't buy their guns legally anyway. Mandatory gun safe storage, trigger locks and 1 handgun a month rules are currently on the table, along with a 10 day waiting period on top of the background check. See the plan now?

NYS OCFS (Office of Children and Family Services) 57081 State Hwy 10 South Kortright, NY 13842 607-538-9121 x1623 This facility is in Delaware County. Pay starts at $40,000 for staff positions, but there are other higher pay grade positions that pay more. There is lots of overtime, (some is mandated overtime) great benefits and pension plan, all training providing. With overtime, many first year staff earn above $60,000. I believe some college is required. Age is not a barrier to hiring if you are at least 21 and under 60. It's a corrections position working with criminal youth under 18 years of age. Call for info and an application. (Other OCFS facilities throughout NY State also have openings.)

A Growing Contoversy
Mr VJP replied to mike rossi's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Nothing wrong with hunting contests that control pests and predators, as far as I'm concerned. Crows, coyotes and vermin are not endangered. How come the anti's don't concern themselves with the rat control issues in NYC?- 19 replies

What our Forefathers understood
Mr VJP replied to Trial153's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
“Those who ‘abjure’ violence can only do so because others are committing violence on their behalf,” George Orwell Another article from Jack that explains how violence is being used against us by people who claim to be progressive and passive. http://www.jack-donovan.com/axis/2012/12/police-state-progressives/ -
"The government may not descend to the evil of preventive law. The government cannot treat men as guilty until they have proven themselves to be, for the moment, innocent. No law can require the individual to prove that he won't violate another's rights, in the absence of evidence that he is going to. But this is precisely what gun control laws do. Gun control laws use force against the individual in the absence of any specific evidence that he is about to commit a crime. They say to the rational, responsible gun owner: you may not have or carry a gun because others have used them irrationally or irresponsibly. Thus, preventive law sacrifices the rational and responsible to the irrational and irresponsible. This is unjust and intolerable. The government may coercively intervene only when there is an objective threat that someone is going to use force. ... Statistics about how often gun-related crimes occur in the population is no evidence against you. That's collectivist thinking. The choices made by others are irrelevant to the choices that you will make. ... The government may respond only to specific threats, objectively evident. It has no right to initiate force against the innocent. And a gun owner is innocent until specific evidence arises that he is threatening to initiate force. Laws prohibiting or regulating guns across the board represent the evil of preventive law and should be abolished." --columnist Harry Binswanger

Good letter to the editor on NYSAFE
Mr VJP replied to WNYBuckHunter's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Too bad the same doesn't apply to anti-gunners when they write letters that attack, belittle, insult and flat out lie about hunters and gun owners. Seems a double standard is OK when it is used against the vilified side. They never present facts, but are allowed to spew venom with impunity. Imagine if they wrote a letter about gays that way. I saw a good e-mail the other day that said, "If burning an American flag is free speech, why would I be persecuted, arrested and prosecuted for burning a rainbow flag?" It's a political agenda folks. If it ain't P.C., it ain't allowed, no matter what the Constitution says! -

It's a venue open to anyone who cares to use it, but many NY gun owners and hunters don't seem to care. Besides, you can't sway emotional thinking, which is what SAFE Act supporters have, with facts. -
Kel Tec PMR 30 handgun with 30 rounds of 22 Mag in the magazine may be a very good choice. To hell with Cuomo and his mag capacity limits. If it's only going to be in my home, it's nobody's business how many rounds I can put in it. https://www.keltecweapons.com/our-guns/pmr-30/pistol/

Uncle Ted Yapping a way…..
Mr VJP replied to First-light's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Some of you guys should Google Ted's bio and find out his list of qualifications, accomplishments and sponsorships regarding firearms, the 2nd Amendment and hunting. You may not like him personally, but I doubt any of you would dislike what he has done for all of the above. The list is far too extensive to be put into a post here. If you think all he has done is hurt the causes mentioned, you are dead wrong! If you dislike him, it's probably because all you know of him is what the leftist mass media shows of him on network TV. Expand your knowledge and open your mind a little before you throw stones. -
Uncle Ted Yapping a way…..
Mr VJP replied to First-light's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Actually, Ted's style gets the attention of the general public, and they hear the message of freedom and rights buried in his crazy style. That is something positive. The general public completely ignores the bland statements made by most other 2nd Amendment supporters, or thinks they are pawns of the NRA, or too radical. He gets the attention of the general public, and though they may find him personally offensive, they cannot ignore, or argue with, the truth in the message that he professes. -
Remington Relocating Jobs?
Mr VJP replied to Five Seasons's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
The costs will be worth it to the labor force because the cost of living down south is much lower. Any relo expenses will be recouped in a few years and life will be much better than if you stay in NY on unemployment. Labor should be willing to relo based on principle alone. -
Except we don't have any bananas, unless you count elected officials.

Remington Relocating Jobs?
Mr VJP replied to Five Seasons's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Remington is doing the right thing. If you are employed by them in NY, I'm sure they will be offering you a job in the new plant down south if you are willing to relocate. It would be a great chance to get off a sinking ship. All of the other businesses in Ilion that make money off the plant, or the workers at Remington Arms, are going to be out of luck though. They should be the ones screaming at Cuomo. -
This hasn't been a free country for decades now. You're free to do whatever the government lets you do. Sure, laws need to prosecute criminal behavior, but when laws are passed that are supposed to stop you from doing something you might do, or have the potential to do, like taking your AR to prevent you from committing mass murder, even though you have never run afoul of the law, that's tyranny and thought control. Imagine if they passed a law saying all males must be castrated to prevent rapes. How would that be philosophically different than banning black rifles?

Cuomo back pedaling with what he said
Mr VJP replied to dbHunterNY's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Every so often, a politician forgets himself, and speaks the truth about what is really on his mind. Cuomo thinks he has complete power over the residents of NY State and he has admitted it. Like Obama, the low info voters agree with them, and believe the rest of us are insane radicals. This society is doomed if we can't overturn the rule of these tyrants. -
The Emperors view on youth crime
Mr VJP replied to bluecoupe's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Hate crime laws were designed to charge whites with crimes against minorities. Minorities are hardly ever charged with them, no matter who they beat, rob, or kill. Hate crime laws should be eliminated as unequal treatment under the law. As far as the knock out game goes, find me an instance of a black youth knocking out a black woman, or even a black man. I rest my case. -
NRA, Scpoe, NYSR&PA
Mr VJP replied to hunter49's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
I agree with you. But I find a lot of guys in NY don't care about any guns they don't own being banned. If they only hunt with a levergun, a ML and a bow, they couldn't care less about you and your handgun or semi-auto rifle. They still think the law will never be stretched far enough to inconvenience them. The background check to buy bullets might change their minds though. -
Quomo: Confiscation would be ok....
Mr VJP replied to bluecoupe's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
These things get to this point because a lot of NY people think it cannot happen, when they are told it might. If NY gun owners marshaled their forces two years ago in anticipation of the Safe Act's arrival, it would never have passed into law. Many NY gun owners have no foresight and seem to prefer denial. Today they are saying confiscation will never happen, even as Cuomo speaks of it. Any many do not care about guns being taken, as long as the ones they own are not. -
