  1. Founding Father Patrick Henry once warned, “Guard with jealous attention the public liberty. Suspect every one who approaches that jewel. Unfortunately, nothing will preserve it but downright force. Whenever you give up that force, you are inevitably ruined.” And in his 1996 book, "The Vision of the Anointed," Thomas Sowell describes the pattern by which liberal elites impose their leftist policy aims — first convincing the masses a grave problem exists, then miraculously providing the Big Government solution. In other words, approaching the jewel of Liberty to take it. “[W]e’re hyped to believe that something is a terrible crisis for which something must be done,” Sowell said, “And what['s] ... fascinating to me ... is that very often the thing that’s said to be in crisis has often been getting better for years on end, but that gets ignored.” It’s as though Sowell foresaw the Obama administration. After nearly doubling the national debt, driving up health care premiums to unaffordable levels, wielding his pen with one hand while giving Congress the finger with the other, and, oh yes, “containing” the Islamic State, Obama is turning his final year’s attention to eviscerating the Second Amendment. That’s right, he’s set his sights on gun control. He must be hoping the climate will change.
  2. Shot into water? You missed the deer by that much? LOL! I'd advise you stop drinking water you shoot into.
  3. Drugs are easily smuggled. Guns are even easier to smuggle.
  4. Sadly, the more this stuff happens, the more our government wants to disarm us. That's the big problem.
  5. "Peace be with you" What religion says that?
  6. Uh oh. Better move this to the politics section.
  7. BTW, I also bear hunt, and this really is my picture, but from a few years back.
  8. Let's blame the NRA. They don't even have members in France, but I'm sure they're to blame!
  9. Didn't Uptown say this doesn't happen anywhere but the US? What makes him believe that? "France was rocked by multiple, near simultaneous attacks on entertainment sites around Paris on Friday evening and French media said at least 60 people were killed and hostages were being held in a concert hall in the capital. The apparently coordinated gun and bomb attacks came as the country, a founder member of the U.S.-led coalition waging air strikes against Islamic State fighters in Syria and Iraq, was on high alert for terrorist attacks ahead of a global climate conference that opens later this month."
  10. I do, but at night usually just use a full moon or a spotlight. I never got a NV scope or binocs, but did have a monocular once that worked OK.
  11. Even some liberal academics get it: "[students today] don't want to hear diverse views on college campuses. ... They want complete freedom over their sex lives, over their personal lives, over the use of drugs, but they want mommy and daddy dean and president to please give them a safe place [to] protect them from ideas that may be insensitive. ... [Y]ou have to call these things what they are: double standards, hypocrisy, bigotry, McCarthyism, and the fog of fascism is descending quickly over many American universities." —liberal law professor Alan Dershowitz
  12. So you didn't even read the stuff you asked me to show you? I took time to compile it for you thinking it remotely possible you had an open mind, willing to discuss facts. You have proven that assumption to be false. It would be well worth your time to read the factual info I supplied and try to civilly debate your side of the issue. If you could do that with facts, you could be considered sane if you stick to your opinion. But with the facts staring you in the face, keeping your opinion isn't logical. Using talking points like "radical group of extremists" without any data to support such an inane statement smacks of someone who has swallowed leftist anti gun propaganda without question, or is really an anti gun radical himself. What better way is there to spend your time then defending American liberties from attack? The NRA doesn't want to beg for your support. They want the support of people who are intelligent enough to see the truth. They are the one's supporting ingrates like you! They work for YOUR rights, and continue to do so even when you spit back at them, because some of us appreciate them and they know it's the right thing to do. If their interests do not align with your interests, you must not want to protect the Bill of Rights, Rule of Law, the Constitution or individual freedoms, since that is what their interests are. If that's a twisted cause, call me twisted. When I think of you in the future, I'll be thinking you should keep your distance.
  13. How about the Lefts claim gun violence is epidemic in America. http://dailysignal.com/2015/11/12/is-there-a-gun-violence-epidemic-the-numbers-say-no/?utm_source=heritagefoundation&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=morningbell&mkt_tok=3RkMMJWWfF9wsRous6zKZKXonjHpfsX77e4sWqa0g4kz2EFye%2BLIHETpodcMTcFhMbvYDBceEJhqyQJxPr3NLtQN191pRhLiDA%3D%3D A quick look into the facts reveals an entirely different picture. According to the FBI, in the past two decades, violent crime has been falling almost continuously. In 2013, the number of violent crimes perpetrated was 37 percent lower than it was just two decades earlier. In 1994, there were 23,326 murders in the United States; by 2013, that number had fallen to 14,196, an incredible 39-percent decline. More specifically, according to the Department of Justice, the number of firearm-related homicides declined from 18,253 in 1993 to 11,101 in 2011. The Department of Justice further concludes that even non-fatal gun-related crimes are declining, dropping 69 percent between 1993 and 2011. While the exact causes for this dramatic decrease can be debated, the decrease itself raises the question: Where does this idea of an “epidemic” of rising gun violence come from? The most significant factor may be the large-scale media coverage of and public interest in mass shootings. Americans are captivated by stories of mass shootings and have followed them closely.
  14. It's not just the NRA that supports the positions the NRA supports either. http://www.examiner.com/article/can-we-have-a-civil-discourse-on-guns
  15. Here's a great read about the NRA. Read it and maybe you won't be so negative about them. (And it's not from the NRA either) http://arbalestquarrel.com/nra-freedom-join-it/ "Whether you have a gun in your possession or not is unimportant. And, it’s unimportant whether you care ever to purchase a gun. What is important – what is critical to the existence of our Democratic Republic – is the Bill of Rights. The Bill of Rights must be preserved – indeed strengthened – at every turn. The Bill of Rights consists of Ten Amendments. The NRA’s efforts preserve and protect all of them – not just the Second Amendment. And, your membership dollars is an investment in the preservation of the Bill of Rights – all ten of them." Still think the NRA is contemptuous Redneck?
  16. I'm not defending the NRA, as you put it. It needs no defending. But I feel your anti NRA bias does need defending. Give it your best shot.
  17. Or this one? http://arbalestquarrel.com/nra-freedom-join-it/
  18. Did you read this one? You never responded. http://arbalestquarrel.com/subverting-the-second-amendment-the-subtle-road-to-injustice/
  19. Maybe you missed this thread. I thought you might want to see this and respond to it. https://www.youtube.com/embed/pELwCqz2JfE?rel=0&autoplay=true
  20. I had a Red Tailed Hawk land on my boot while while turkey hunting. Had my back to a tree with my legs stretched out on a log while calling. The bird landed on my boot toe and stared into my camo face mask for about 10 seconds before flying off.
  21. Nightvision scopes and other NV equipment is legal to own and/or have on your firearm. They can be used when you are hunting any game that can legally be hunted at night.
