Koch Brothers Get The Last Laugh
Mr VJP replied to Mr VJP's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
What exactly should be done to have "clean elections and equaling the playing field so we all can participate in the political process in a meaningful way."? -
The campaign against the Koch’s was the result of an ideologically bankrupt party that could not campaign on policy or on the agenda of an unpopular president. Democrats were eager to shift attention away from six years of failed economic policies and a feckless foreign. A rhetoric war against two wealthy Americans was the only campaign tactic the DNC could muster. Americans didn’t buy into the smear campaign; they rejected it along with Democratic policies in what was a huge victory for the GOP last November’s elections. While the Democrats tried to paint the right as a being the rich man’s party and the Koch’s for trying to “buy America,” the truth is America’s wealthiest districts elect Democrats, and more billionaires contributed the Democratic party than the GOP last election cycle. http://www.thefederalistpapers.org/us/despite-relentless-attacks-by-democrats-koch-brothers-get-last-laugh-because

Fear not the machete law brothers! Compromise will prevail. Do gooders will allow you to keep your machete. You just have to apply for a permit from the state, pass an extensive background check, register all of your machetes, pay a $50 fee and renew you permit every year. Be advised, if ever your machete permit is revoked, all of your machetes, firearms, knives, hammers, hatchets, axes, blunt instruments and rocks will be confiscated. Who could be against such "common sense" legislation? Next, they will pass a compromise law allowing all faiths to celebrate "Festivus" in December, but nothing else.

Your asinine simian countenance alludes that your fetid stench has annulled the anthropoid ape species diversity.

Welcome to the forums! I used to do a lot of waterfowl hunting in Raritan Bay near South Amboy, NJ years ago and miss it a lot. Now I hunt mainly in the uplands and for deer and bear with some coyote and turkey thrown in. I also love grouse hunting. I look forward to your posts on the forum in the future.

I really do not understand what it means when someone says. "not for nothin' but'

That's a very good policy to adopt.

The specs don't say anything about it being able to shoot .45 LC ammo and they do say it has a fixed full choke. That means it can NOT safely shoot .45 LC ammo without a danger of blowing the barrel. Tell the guy in the shop he is going to get someone hurt badly giving out that type of incorrect and dangerous info.
-
The Judge handgun is designed to accept .45 LC, but most .410 guns are not. I'll see if I can find anything on the Chiappa.

It's also interesting he was not arrested when he was stopped. They let him go. Apparently the Sheriff was asked about it and decided he needed to be charged, so he sent his men back to the man's home the next day to arrest him. The law in NJ is designed to make felons out of any gun owners it can, so they can convict you and take away all of your 2nd Amendment rights. They won't put him in jail, but they will fine him, make him a felon, remove his guns and his rights, and put him on probation. IMHO, that is also exactly what the NY SAFE Act was written to do.
-
"Of course the 410 will shoot 45 colt but it is a smoothbore." I hope you know a .410 barrel will NOT shoot .45 LC unless it has been specifically designed to do so. It would need to have a bore diameter of .45 inch all the way to the muzzle. Most .410 shotgun have a .41 inch bore and an even tighter choke at the muzzle. Does the manufacturer say you can shoot .45 LC in it?

A year or two ago, a mountain lion was killed by a car on a highway in Connecticut. Biologists claimed it's DNA indicated it had come from North Dakota I think. Anyway, the story they told was that it had traveled across the northern United States, through Minnesota, then part of Canada, then through upstate NY, and wound up on the highway in CT. There have been other stories of mountain lions making similar treks. The main point here is, apparently mountain lion do travel, and some may have traveled through NY State, but there is no evidence of any breeding pairs or any permanent resident mountain lions in NY State as of this date. But because they apparently can travel quite a ways, I wouldn't be surprised if eventually one is documented in NY State in the near future.

Never complain about getting old. It's a privilege denied to many. I don't mind getting older, as I really dislike the alternative.

Guys that know sporterized milsurp rifles...
Mr VJP replied to Caveman's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
I agree. There are plenty of good used rifles on the market. If you want a milsurp to pretty up for your own, there are plenty of them out there too. Just take your time and keep an eye out for a good one. That's part of the satisfaction of a custom rifle, saving an old war horse with a nice make over. -
I thought I'd pass this on..... "Why Grandpa carries a gun" The Quintessential reason - Why Grandpa carries a gun: Why Carry a Gun? My old grandpa said to me 'Son, there comes a time in every man's life when he stops bustin' knuckles and starts bustin' caps and usually it's when he becomes too old to take an ass whoopin.' I don't carry a gun to kill people. I carry a gun to keep from being killed. I don't carry a gun to scare people. I carry a gun because sometimes this world can be a scary place. I don't carry a gun because I'm paranoid. I carry a gun because there are real threats in the world. I don't carry a gun because I'm evil. I carry a gun because I have lived long enough to see the evil in the world. I don't carry a gun because I hate the government. I carry a gun because I understand the limitations of government. I don't carry a gun because I'm angry. I carry a gun so that I don't have to spend the rest of my life hating myself for failing to be prepared. I don't carry a gun because I want to shoot someone. I carry a gun because I want to die at a ripe old age in my bed, and not on a sidewalk somewhere tomorrow afternoon. I don't carry a gun because I'm a cowboy. I carry a gun because, when I die and go to heaven, I want to be a cowboy. I don't carry a gun to make me feel like a man. I carry a gun because men know how to take care of themselves and the ones they love. I don't carry a gun because I feel inadequate. I carry a gun because unarmed and facing three armed thugs, I am inadequate. I don't carry a gun because I love it. I carry a gun because I love life and the people who make it meaningful to me. Police protection is an oxymoron. Free citizens must protect themselves. Police do not protect you from crime, they usually just investigate the crime after it happens and then call someone in to clean up the mess.

Truthfully the people asking don’t really want to know why; they are looking to get into a rhetoric fight. They don’t really care what you have to say, and already have a few sound bites chambered and ready to go as soon as you stop talking. These folks don’t really have an open mind, and nothing you say is going to change their mind. http://www.guns.com/2015/02/14/opinion-why-anti-gun-activists-love-to-ask-why/

While goose hunting, a man asks, "Do you know why a V formation of flying geese has one side of the V that is longer than the other?" "More geese on that side."

A reporter asked Gen. D. MacArther what makes him a great leader? He replied, "I never give an order that can be understood!" After allowing for a moment of confusion he said: "I always give an order that cannot be misunderstood!"
