$2.81 today in Central NJ. The state of NY taxes gas about .50 cents a gallon more than NJ does.

Took a trip to see my grand daughter in Central NJ and paid $2.85. Don't think the price will keep going down after the elections though.

The cops have no idea where he is. One day they were surrounding a house on the east end of the search area, while also doing a sweep on the west side. He may not even be in the country anymore by this point. He had two years to plan this. He probably figured all the angles. There have been State Police from 3 states helping out, as well as the FBI. Dogs haven't worked either. I'm sure this much energy and effort wouldn't be expended if this guy shot me, or one of my family. Imagine how much money has been spent so far. If he killed a regular person, they would've called off the search weeks ago and told the family they will eventually catch him when he slips up out in the world someday. -

Compromise gets things done, but the results suck! Compromise on gun control just gets us more control and we're supposed to be happy they let us keep a few. There are certain things that should never be compromised, like Liberty, Constitutional Rights, Freedom and War. I want elected officials that respect the Rule of Law in America and do what's best for the country and it's future. Nothing more, nothing less. -
Could be a feral dog. Some dogs in the woods live there all the time and have no owners. They can be a problem for deer too.

Years ago I got this plastic bladder thing called a Platypus. It has a sipping nipple cap on it, so you don't need to unscrew the cap to drink from it, and as the fluid level goes down, you flatten the bottle to squeeze the air out and it won't make noise. It holds 20 fluid oz and weighs about 1 oz when empty. Best thing I ever bought for water while hunting. I don't know if they even sell them anymore.

He's a RINO and was no friend to gun owners or sportsman in NY when he was the Gov. I'll pass. -
I have a CZ 28 gauge SxS in the Ringneck model. That's the one with the sideplates and color case hardened receiver that is sized for 28 gauge. It's a fine SxS that handles very well on small game. The wood is nothing fancy, but looks nice, and these guns are not blued on the barrels, rather sporting some type of black coating that also looks good and I assume protects better. The gun has never given me any issues and I've never heard anyone else that owns one complain. They are very well priced for what you get.

I find it easy to open the sternum with a knife. Never used a saw. Even on the pelvic bone. I take my fixed blade knife, that I carry just for these jobs, place it on the pelvic bone and tap it with a baseball sized rock to get it to cut through. No extra tools required.

I've done it like that when I was young and had a sedan. People were used to seeing that 30 years ago.

Sorry, but the courts have already ruled it doesn't violate your rights in domestic violence cases. And, when the cops come for your guns, they will have a warrant. They will be issued with 24 hours of the complaint by a judge. One thing I've always noticed about NY gun owners is their stubborn insistence any new gun ownership threat isn't a real concern. They will quote laws, precedents and the Constitution for their lack of concern and apathy. That's exactly how the SAFE Act got passed. Too much apathy.

It won't affect your property rights, and unless there is a well drilled on your property that has a leaking shaft, it won't affect your water, because is way too far below it. I think home rule is a problem because the majority of voters don't own a lot of land and are being scared by anti-fracking accusations. Most of those who are for it own big land parcels and are in the minority of total voters in a given area. But the economic benefits of the gas production, from jobs, to taxes and peripheral income at diners, stores, gas stations, etc., benefits all in the area. Until the negative claims from fracking are proven, I thing the quote above from Economist Stephen Moore is accurate. -
This is a very good video on how to properly gut a deer. A lot of new hunters ask how to do this. This video does a great job of teaching you.

In NY right now, if your spouse says they are afraid of you and you own guns, the cops can take them away from you under current domestic partnership laws. You get to go to court in 2 weeks and a judge will hear your side of the story. Most often they grant a restraining order to protect their own butts. Few accused have their guns returned by judges until after divorces or partnership arrangements are dissolved and the accuser agrees to it. This law is a real danger because it would allow ANYBODY to claim you are a danger and let the cops come for your guns right away. I suspect few judges will allow them to be returned when you get the chance to tell your side of the story in 2 weeks. Long, expensive legal battles would become the norm. the anti's see this as a big win, because the more they can scare gun owners, the fewer gun owners there will be. It's another end run around the 2nd Amendment by the Police State Progressives.

Economist Stephen Moore: "The one common theme of the green marchers these days is they hate fracking, even though it has done more to reduce greenhouse gases than all the government subsidies to wind and solar power combined. The Sierra Club and other environmental groups which once saw natural gas as a valuable 'bridge' fuel to the future, now denounce this wonder fuel. ... Shale gas is a wonder fuel because it is clean-burning, abundant, domestically produced, and cheap. The price of natural gas has fallen by more than half over the last six years and we have at least 150 years of supply in the Marcellus Shale and elsewhere. The Left’s unhinged objections to natural gas exposes their real aspirations. They aren’t fighting to stop global warming or the rise of the oceans; they’re fighting to stop growth itself. Americans better wake up to that reality, before the greens actually succeed." -
The Calif law that just passed, allowing anyone to complain you are a danger, makes it legal to take all your guns without any due process, until you can prove you are not a danger. A NY lawmaker has introduced a bill in NY to do the same thing. If this passes, it would be wise to head for the nearest exit right away. http://www.guns.com/2014/10/04/new-york-next-to-pursue-gun-violence-restraining-order-legislation/

I was under the impression you had to sell them the rights to go under your land. When they come into an area, they pay a price per acre to all landowners for the right to extract from the shale deep below your land. Why would they pay each landowner if they could go under your land without buying the rights? -
And all gun rights in NY State will become privileges that will be licensed and subject to the will of the government. Unfortunately Astorino, and the gun rights orgs in the state today, are too little, too late.
-
But with a whole lot of financial backing, according to the current political wisdom, Astorino would only lose by about 10 percentage points or so. I think the point of the article is, all political indicators point to failure, no matter how much money is thrown at it. Some folks think money is all you need to win an election. That is not true. You need a majority of the vote, and the majority of NY votes will never go to a Conservative Republican. The majority of the state's voters are too Liberal, Leftist and anti-gun. Plus, those people vote. Too many of the state's Republicans, Conservatives and gun owners, don't. The NRA doesn't have unlimited funds, thanks to many gun owners who are not members. So they have to invest where they can get the beat result for the money spent. I think they believe NY is not a good investment. I think they are right.
