  1. Walt, I didn't realize that you need to adjust the zero from one position to the next, this is true even on the PCP?
  2. Congratulations on passing the course. Enjoy your trapping, and hope you get many enjoyments out of it.
  3. Each deer taken in LI is a car saved, and a few mouths fed. Nice deer.
  4. Those Red's are nice eh? I'd like to get a few more and make something from their pelt.
  5. Elmo, now now, we know that deer can run thousands of yards before dying after getting clipped by a hot wheels. And don't forget that crows specialize in breaking right through rib cages of adult deer. I retract my statement about the slug, must be termites.
  6. Good stuff Skillet. How do you prepare them?
  7. Pretty obvious that a high impact object hit this deer the size of a quarter. No car would do that, and no predator would naw a hole that size. This deer was shot. Could be a lost deer, could be some foul play going on. Either way, sad sight to see. Elmo, ever thought of camping that area and using some calls for Yotes or Fox?
  8. Walt, I hear you on the expensive pellets that just don't shoot right in some rifles. I think I'm building a pretty healthy variaty of pellets in .177 now. I wonder if a sampler package would be something that is profitable.
  9. Nice stuff. It'll be nice if they put a Pellet Assortment package together for us .177 guys. BTW, I found a source for the .177 destroyer pellets for cheap, might stock up on them. Does anyone have any luck with those pellets as far as accuratcy?
  10. Was this the shotty one, or pellet? Sorry the other was no good, we'll get more next time, no doubt.
  11. Crows are no good for me, unless they land, lol. Do let me know if there's a seat for me. As they say, a day hunting is better than a day at work.
  12. Yup, airguns are legal there, so I was thrilled. Those little critters blend in so well, if they stood still, we probably passed about a hundred of them. 13BVET, once I figure out this accuratcy issue, we're going for reds.
  13. 13BVET said it, it was a blast!(liternally too) We had a lot of fun, and learned a few things too! I got in some hunting experience in, and learned a few things about keeping out of trouble. All-in-all, very good experience, and very grateful to 13BVET for putting this thing together. Nothing more this newbie could have asked for. BTW, Elmo tells me that my shots were through-and-through. Entry was body, and exit was by the neck. This should be at least a one lung shot, twice. I think I either need to switch to hollow points, larger caliber, or try for the head with a more accurate gun.
  14. wooly, No, just a few shots seem blurry in the center, like a smudge or some water vapor on it or something. Otherwise, these photos are fantastic, and defiantely appreciate you posting them for the rest of us to see. Thanks!
  15. Thanks for your service, but you are right, I can't imagine how it is out there. I know people that have served, but I would not dare to ask for details and bring back undesirable memories. That does not mean that I think what's done here is right. Perhaps these kind of things happen all the time in war, but to publicly record, and braodcast it really isn't any better than those you see of American's being executed on homemade videos. Is that the level that America has become?
  16. I could careless how the opposing side was killed, or disabled from killing our troops, but desecrating someone's loved one after the fact is uncalled for. And filming it for the world to see, definately doesn't help matters. I also understand war IS war, but there are ways to fight an honorable war, and then there is this.
  17. Some people don't realize that the hate towards Americans are fueled by things such as this, arrogance and bullying. They don't realize that the American people have FUBAR foreign policies that places American troops in harms way. These people are too into themselves to realize that the problem isn't always one sided. Until they learn to take their heads out of their arse, we'll always be in this predicament. The USA isn't one of the greatest countries in the world because of Democracy, it's because we outsourse and hog all the natural resources and bully others into submitting. It's all catching up to us now. It's only a matter of time if we don't rethink how we operate on a global level.
  18. What happened in WW2, happened during times of desperation. It's not a justification for what happened, but there was a valid reason for doing what they did. If they were not ready to detain war prisioners, the only way we could ensure the soldiers that followed on the advance on D-Day, was to execute the opposing side. This is not the case here. These Taliban soldiers have expired, but yet American soldiers insult and continue to fuel the hate these people have towards the American people. Is this what we really want? Especially during times of peace talks like Elmo stated? Sometimes I find my fellow Americans no better than the Taliban that we strive to eradicate. I know several Marines, and I know none of them would act the way these Marines acted. They would be ashamed to call themselves Marines after seeing this.
  19. Do you have frost on your lens on some of those shots?
  20. Saw 2 deer being driven back from LI today at around 8-9 PM on the LIE behind a truck. Looks like it was a good day hunting.
