OMG.....This sounds delicious. I will definitely try it.....Thanks!

Too early...I usually find them mid to late April, and on into May. I have made some of my best finds while turkey hunting in May. My 90 year old mother makes the absolute best leak & potato soup ever. My hunting buddies and I make sure she gets some leeks...and we get some soup. Here's another recipe for you: Put a quarter cup of cider vinegar in a blender; add 3-4 young leeks (whole, white bulb + green top) and blend well. Then add whatever you usually use for an Italian salad dressing to the leek vinegar mix, and voila...Wild Green Goddess Salad Dressing.

That certainly would not be my turkey gun of choice. If I had to hunt with it, I would try Mag 5's or 4x6 duplex loads...maybe Mag 6's.

I agree: No matter how bad this law is, think twice before willfully violating it.

Only thing I know about after 3/15 is that dealers are supposed to perform the background check for NO MORE THAN $10......Frankly, I can't see dealers being all that interested in doing it at all. Time will tell, I guess.

11-87 has RemChoke....still available....price: $600 (I have a firm offer of $550...deal to be closed late on 3/14...) first $600 before then takes it.

If I understand correctly, we have two days (today and tomorrow) left to make private firearm sales without background checks. If you buying/selling/trading to do....best get to it! Background checks for private sales go into effect on Friday, March 15.

You correct...we are dealing with a double-edged sword here: desiring safety for all on one hand...while wanting to protect the rights of all on the other. I do laud the VA's stance...for the simple reason that it will serve to tweek King Andy's nose a bit. Perhaps if the Chief Clown and his Bozos had taken more time to study all this...and had involved mental health professionals in the planning, a fair and workable approach could have been developed. Now we are playing catch up and clean up.

Would depend....whether the method I choose were to be the only method. If only bowhunting were allowed, I would choose bowhunting. If both were allowed, I would choose gun!

Want something good to go with your next venison meal?? Try Lake Placid UBU Ale; it's great with steaks, stew, burgers or homemade venison salami or sausage and cheese and crackers.

I think some reservoirs...Cannonsville, and maybe Pepacton now have "put & take" programs in place...boats no longer have to remain there forever. Check with NYC DEP.

My newest grandson is on Newtramagen and doing extremely well. He is the happiest baby we have ever seen...never any colic at all. We search carefully for coupons to help offset the cost...still expensive, but obviously worth it.! Just for the hell of it, check out the ADVOCATE column in the Albany, NY Times Union newspaper. (timesunion.com) Maybe there is someone like that in your area that could help you. Even insurance companies dislike bad publicity. Good Luck, Early

Venison goes best with a full-bodied red wine...Livingston Merlot...or Blackstone...or Gnarly Head merlots. (One to look for in the future: Marquette red from Victory View Winery in N. Easton, NY)

Did You Know Is In Hancock, NY?
Early replied to Mr VJP's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
This is NOT fiction...A friend in Deposit told me of this a few years back. Why is it allowed?...Who knows?? -
I, too, have given up wearing a "turkey vest"; I was toting way too much gear. Now I use a belt pouch or a small - medium shoulder bag for my limitied gear and hang a Shorty Evans seat cushion from my belt.

Pul...leeze; Give me a break: Electronic communication engaged in by people who do not know each other leaves little to judge participants by. So....since you will be judged by your written words...write well! If a person spells incorrectly, or uses poor grammar, then I will judge him as lacking in formal communication skills. If he, then...or some supporter of his attempts to justify such behavior, then I will judge them as dupes! You fit!!!

It is somewhat laughable, albeit also somewhat sickening, to see some of you try to justify your obvious stupidity. The intent of the original post was to merely suggest that what you write, defines you. Therefore, you should be careful about what you write...lest you portray yourself as an idiot. And, the troll bit.....way overused....by those that have no other arguments. The whole troll concept was created by a subspecies to give credence to its gibberish!

My experience with Henry has been great. My grandson has one of their lever .22's; It is a real shooter! It developed a problem where the follower in the magazine tube broke and would literally jump out of the tube after the last round was fired. I called Henry...explained the problem...and they overnighted a new magazine to me, without ever seeing the damaged one. I call that good service.

Wow....sounds delicious; Nothing like good homemade soup!

So...You are saying it is OK to talk/write in a manner that makes you look like an idiot??? If you want to...go ahead. We will just view you as an idiot!

Still waiting to hear from the 30+ guys..........

How about sharing the methods/recipes you used to cook those rabbits..???

Found a ton of ammo at a local shop yesterday; stocked up. Pulled into a gas station on the way home, where a super-hot blonde at the next pump noticed my ammo. "Ammo is really getting hard to find. Would you be interested in a sex-for-ammo trade?" she asked. "I don't know," I replied. "What kind of ammo do you have for trade?"
