Who wants Yearling Buck Protection with ARs in their area?
Early replied to Meat Hunter's topic in Deer Hunting
GAG ME!!!! Are you guys deer hunters, or are you looking for some sort of braggin rights from scoring a buck that has been artifically enhanced with "food plots" designed to grow antlers. AR's have been created to soothe the souls or modern day pussies who wish to pretend to be deer hunters. Said "hunters" wish only to brag on their kills or to adorn their walls with artificially-enhanced headgear on bucks they are able to shoot. Are there no traditional deer hunters out there? Let us hear from you!- 320 replies

The notch and dot systems for identifying choke tubes are worthless if one forgets the system.

I, too, forget which choke is in my gun....No problem to back it out just far enough to read the writing on it. No choke tool....use a quarter.

Got similar reports on two shows in TN today, Kingsport and Memphis: Huge crowds attending the shows...no visible protestors!
-
Saratoga weekend gun show opened today, under great protest. All the mainstream media: radio, TV, newspapers were joining with Saratoga anti's in protesting the show over the last three weeks. Three separate protests were scheduled for Saratoga today. Show was to open at 9:00; my buddy and I got there at 7:50 and had to stand in a long line on the street outside the City Center where the show was held. Once we got into the show, the large ballroom quickly filled with attendees. We stayed for two hours, and when we left we found a three block long line of people out on the sidewalk waiting to get into the show. No protestors were to be found anywhere we looked. Largest attendance at this gun show in history. Score one for the good guys!!

Boycott hunting license purchases
Early replied to Jmac491's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Remember: No hunting license means no hunting. Get caught hunting without a license and....VOILA, big brother CAN confiscate your hunting implements! -
who is going to collect all these guns...
Early replied to G-Man's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
A survey was done awhile back, asking cops if they would disarm citizens at the will of the government. The vast majority responded, "Yes!" If there is ever any sort of "collection" by the government, it will be a clear example of the "government against the people" situation for which the Second Admendment offers protection. Slowly, our government of...by...and for the people is becoming a government on...over...and against the people. Sad times! -
Get one every year.....Never sick with the flu

Coupla thoughts: First go hunting...scout while you hunt/hunt while you scout. It is amazing what you can learn about deer while pursuing winter grouse or snowshoe hares. Second, EXPLORE while you scout/hunt: Deliberately visit areas just beyond or just around the corner from where you normally hunt. You might be surprised by what you find. Lastly, use compass, GPS, and/or bright surveyor's tape to help you return to any new "hot spots" you locate.

Once read of a Colt 1911 .45 that was found in "condition one", cocked & locked and had been so for more than 20 years. Taken to the range, it discharged its 7+1 without the slightest hiccup. Of course, those 1911's are tough!

Unfortunately, I do not know how to do pics. I am in W. Sand Lake, just across the river from Albany.

I am not a stand hunter. I leave my thermos in my truck...and get back to it for a cup of coffee every couple of hours or so. My wife sewed me a double-thick fleece sleeve to keep the thermos in. I leave this in the truck, where sunlight can hit it if there is any. Have no trouble keeping coffee hot all day in below-zero Adirondack weather.

JOIN THE NRA NOW!!!
Early replied to Joe Red's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
You suggest that we must BUY a right guaranteed by the Constitution?? As the kids would say, "GAG ME!" -
JOIN THE NRA NOW!!!
Early replied to Joe Red's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Hold on woofer....Are you suggesting that only NRA members deserve to have guns. I just re-read the Second Amendment...no mention of NRA therein. All gun owners are not alike...Not all gun owners think alike. Some even choose to not support an organization fronted by guys like Ted Nugent and Larry North. So...there will always be fine, upstanding, law-abiding, gun owning citizens who will for any of a number of good reasons choose not to join the NRA. -
So , you think the other guy is screwed up ?

Did my wife post this??? -
I plan to go to the Saratoga show. Should I encounter protestors...I shall endeavor to "kill them with kindness!"

Hmmm....Hatchet?...or, Machete? How 'bout neither. Seriously...for hiking or hunting I have never carried either. I sometimes carry my Blackjack 1-5....It will do whatever needs being done, and will do things neither a hatchet or machete can do.

I agree with Uncle Nicky: Hunt with an experienced hunter as often as you can; listen, observe and learn. I agree also on the recommendation to use a box call, BUT I also suggest that you decide from day one to learn how to use a mouth call. Might take you 2-3 seasons to get where you are competent with one, but the longer you wait to try one...the longer it will be before you can add it to your call arsenal. Last suggestion: Do NOT get caught up in the "I need a super shotgun...mega expensive choke...and very expensive designer ammo, all that will perform at long, long range to kill a turkey!" craze. I have killed a bunch of turkeys using old single barrel shotguns and standard ammo. It is the hunter that bags the turkey...not his equipment!

Do you deliver??

Sounds delicious....You have my mouth watering. I love venison meatballs!

Either stand with us or get out of the way
Early replied to Mr VJP's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Hmmm....Does no one remember the Kent State incident? Military and police "follow orders" whether in Nazi Germany, occupied France, or HERE! Never forget this! (Note: If you suggest this is untrue....Then why worry about the govt. taking our guns? The military and/or the police are the only govt. agencies that could take them. Think about it!)
