  1. Yes, that is surely a Luger pistol on the right. They were very popular with hunters back then. That Marlin appears to be a takedown and a half octagon barrel. As far as safety goes, I have seen many old timers lean on their lever guns like the man in the photo is doing. It gives me pause, but the chamber is probably empty, as they found it easy to quickly lever one into the chamber when needed.
  2. Notice this: "Fishing is exempt as it's not wildlife, also exempt is deer and turkey contests." I don't see how they can say contests for most animals are wrong, but these are OK. Seems they want to keep the opposition down in the beginning to make the bill easier for many hunters to accept, since most don't care about contests for other animals. Bet they come back soon and ban contests for deer and turkey too.
  3. Info posted in the Political section.
  4. Sharing this from another source. CALL TO ACTION Today, the NYS Assembly passed Bill A2917, the Senate passed a few weeks ago. This Bill bans hunting contests. Fishing is exempt as it's not wildlife, also exempt is deer and turkey contests. What it does effect, Coyote, woodchuck, squirrel, crow...Everything besides deer and turkey. It is especially important for any club or group, fire department, etc. to hand write letters to the governor explaining what your events does for the local communities. We all know, the ANTI's will be all over this to get the governor to sign this bill into law. Let's pull together as sportsmen to defeat this law change. If we don't do anything, we will never see another hunting contest in NY. We need a massive calling, email and handwritten letters to the Governor's office. 6. I don't know anything about the other site and don't intend to learn about it. It's not that I'm ignoring it, it's just insignificant.
  7. Fred Goodwin, famous to hunters for bagging The Silver Ridge Buck on the edge of the Silver Ridge Bog, Maine in 1949
  8. The site was down for a day or two and many members left for another hunting site a while back. They seemed to think the other site was better. I cannot comment on where they went because I do not even know the name of the site. But I can say this site has been far more pleasant to be on since they all left.
