  2. Picked this up a few days ago. Always wanted another .22 air rifle. Have not had one since I was a kid. I have a .17 single shot, but this is a 10 shot repeater. It has a magazine that auto feeds and it shoots pellets at 1000 fps. Total cost with tax, scope and 250 pellets was about $225. I have it sighted in now at 25 yards and it is accurate enough for red squirrels, which will serve as the most common target. It is said to be able to take woodchuck at 50 yards too. We'll see. Weighs only about 6.5 pounds and has a good trigger @ 4lbs but quite a bit of travel before it shoots. Adding a sling may be possible, but it would have to be a slip on type.
  3. Hunters staying at the Anibal House in Piseco in the town of Arietta, NY, show a great weekend hunt of whitetails. Anibal House proprietor Len Anibal stands far right. Upstate NY Circa 1936.
  4. On Jan. 1, on his first act in office, the newly inaugurated Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva signed an executive order banning sales of guns and ammunition and limiting people to a maximum of three guns. Lula also banned concealed carry and is moving to take away gun ownership licenses. Dr. John Lott tried to make a bet with leading gun control "scholars" regarding the new gun control oppression in Brazil. He says crime will go up now that guns are strictly controlled and has was willing to bet $1000 he was right. None of the gun control zealots would take the bet and the reasons they gave for not doing so proves they know they are lying about the subject when they pontificate on it. At the Federalist: If Brazil’s Firearm Ban Is So Great, Why Won’t Gun-Control Activists Bet On It? (crimeresearch.org)
  5. Game wardens Black Dwinal and Toby Tyler with Forest Rangers Jeb Garfield and Alex Stowell wrestle an elk onto the meat pole in the Adirondack Preserve. The elk was 550 pounds with an 11 point rack. Elk went extinct in the Adirondacks in 1847, though a number of unsuccessful reintroduction programs took place in the first half of the 1900s. Circa 1946.
  6. Nope, but I'd take it. Besides a boat on a trailer is like a fish out of water.
  7. It put up a good fight for about 5 minutes, leaping clear out of the water 3 times. I set the drag very light and it peeled a lot of line. It was fun and I released it shortly after taking a couple of quick pics.
  8. Had a hour to fish this evening. Nice smallie. Ultra light tackle and 2 lb test line. Nice fight.
