  1. live in Queens but I know LI traffic all too well and havent gone out there in a while. pick the wrong time and you're done. then if you are going north, you face the deegan crossbronx nightmare. i seriously hope to move above the tapan zee someday. just going for a moto ride is a pain in the arse when you come back to the city and end up in traffic with your engine over 200 degrees... i just want to take the bike out, and be on country roads as i exit the driveway here is to dreaming! The deegan/cross bronx to GW has been bad as far as I remember being in the back of the pontiac station wagon to go upstate. I do not think they will ever figure out how to fix that congestion and road work is ever going there.
  2. THATS WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT! SAUSAGE YEAAAA BOYYYYYYY! PM me that recipe please, they look great!
  3. i saw a buck just like that last year, on the camera one time only. wondering about him ...
  4. i have the hd drift and my buddy has the go pro also. the only problem i find with these cameras is the fisheye lens and the way they make something that is 20 yards look like 30 or more. up close, looks great, but you can see how far the target looks. the game would look far also. im biting the bullet and buying a camcorder that has good optical zoom this year, but dont get me wrong, ill still be using the drift on my head
  5. Alright, glad not to be the only one out there.
  6. Alright, glad not to be the only one out there.
  7. Is it just me or does anyone find it tough to find sheds throughout the mountain/big woods? I walked miles and hours in Catskills Private and Public mountainous land and although I did find a matched set 8 point, first sheds in my life back in late January, I never find them like they do on those damn shows. Guy comes out with a bag full of sheds... Also walked and walked a ton in the ADK and found 1 chewed up small shed. I need a dog to train
  8. I never really see big bucks around in 4P out in the fields. Have seen a 3 pointer a couple weekends ago though strolling out into the field, looking back like another was waiting in the cover, but never showed. It has been over 15 years since we used to see deer in those same fields even bucks.
  9. Wow, too bad they are no longer made!!! Would have saved me a ton in climbing sticks at $6 a step. Anyone use these? Also checking out the Guido's Web... keep finding so many ways lol.
  10. Seems like Hang on stands and sticks are the most versatile way to go then. Recommendations for any models/parts to look up?
  11. I like the idea of the hang on sticks and stands, but I know they can add up $$$ fast. Question about Hang on sticks and stands. Can you sit in the stand? Must you screw anything into the tree or do they make any that use ratchet straps? Rather not screw anything into the trees, especially if I hunt on public land. I like the idea of being able to leave it up there and remove a couple sticks also so nobody can easily steal it.
  12. I find the seat comfy and I sit all dawn to dusk with some stretching breaks in between.
  13. 13', but you can remove a step and make it about 10' , which is what I do when the hike is long and uphill.
  14. Pack n Stack Ladder Stand http://www.huntriver...?params=RE622*0 To anyone that has used the Rivers Edge Pack n Stack, and a climber as well, which do you prefer most of the time? The stand is about 33lbs, I usually remove one part of the ladder to keep it lighter. I was thinking of buying another one because I like to keep my current one up a Mountain for the season, and I want to use one on public land I am exploring nearby. It is a super chore to hike it up the private mountain so leaving it there keeps me from sweating and walking over an hour instead of 30 minutes up a peak in the Catskills. So far my pro's and con's for the ladder stand Pros: - easy to carry on your back - easy to put together quickly - very affordable at $89 - I can easily go down and take care of any business quickly (bathroom, stretch, move it to a new location) Cons: - on the heavy side for long hikes especially uphill, which I prefer Anyone used this or a similar portable ladder stand and prefer a climber still? It's a pretty specific question to anyone that has used both. I know climbers are great, but pretty expensive and its easier for me to spend another $89 rather than 200+ or more for a good light climber. I guess my budget will dictate the final answer but curious to know if anyone else has used both and their thoughts.
  15. I decided to cook my first full Turkey in the oven today. It was a jake I took this past Spring. It actually came out really great! I finally was able to get that nice brown skin over the bird that I always wanted to. Usually my dad makes the birds. I just followed the method by this guy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eaKOLGIcMGE&list=PL3D46F9F194CCC888&index=2&feature=plpp_video He has some other great videos on cooking turkey. Don't just use the breasts! (turkey breasts) Nothing like enjoying what you worked so hard to hunt.
  16. Just my Dad's Springfield 30-06 for me as well, one bolt and one automatic. Can't remember if I ever taken with both though... I usually use the Auto.
  17. I know I know... I find it hilarious cause it was fun times but I understand not everyone will get it. If you hunt with a partner that you are great friends with, you'll understand it more, unless you never kid around out there which is fine also. "The only advice I have for people is not to blow a chance at a big buck just because you want it on film." %100 agree! That's why some of my videos do not have the killshot, I didn't bother moving to press record. Just need to be better prepared. Paula you missed it! 12 inch bearded gobbler. Rewind and somewhere in the middle.
  18. Thanks fellas. Can't wait to see them Deerthug! I love home made ones. 1. I don't have cable. 2. I like hunting I can relate to. What type of camera are you going to use, tripod? Been using an HD Drift myself but plan is to buy a under 500 camcorder that actually zooms in. The turkey I got on this video was cause my partner Doug brought along his camcorder. If I had my drift, or his gopro, the turkey would look super far away like 30 yards when it was actually 10ish. Damn fisheye lens and no zoom...
  19. I agree with Yotes year round at least year by year trial. IF I see one, its usually late summer in a field and thats in a good year. I don't want to exterminate them, I value their part in the system, just want to help see some rabbits and more deer once again. "I remember all of the bucks I killed. Spikes and all. And I am proud of them all." RIGHT ON!!! "I believe this has all been brought on by TV and the I only shoot 150+ deer with long G2's and all of this crap." RIGHT ON!!!! "When did we start needing a lease, tractor, food plot, camera, feeders, climbing tree stands, blinds, sentblockers, doe piss, and all of the stuff TV says you need." RIGHT ON!!! Its commercial, can't stop it. It's like asking new generations what Christmas is all about, apparently not Jesus's birth anymore. It's about whether or not the kid is gonna get an iPad or iPhone
  20. I hear ya. Our goal is to cater to the guys that have tough hunts and are tired of seeing giant genetically manufactured animals shot in 3 minutes. Thanks for your honesty though. Hoping to get better at it next season and hit the record button when it matters!
  21. Take a break from the AR debate and grab a cold one http://www.youtube.com/user/postedboyz?feature=mhee
